    Pros

Nice building with great views in downtown Norfolk- good place to get some experience if you want to work on a public facing site.

    Cons

The company is focused on trying to keep up with bigger and better companies like zillow and trulia- there have been some groups who intentional mislead senior software engineers about the nature of the work to get them to join- very unethical practice that senior management knows about but takes no action to correct. This practice leads to high turn over.

Pay is below market and with limited resources DE tries to maintain enough market share to get leads to sell to Realtor s. Web traffic is on a slow but steady decline-

    Advice to Management

No point to say anything to management- they are focused on just trying to keep up and be profitable- employees are replaceable.

    Pros

    Team environment
    Young, fresh talent
    Creative atmosphere
    Good health insurance benefits
    Nice 401k benefits

    Cons

Very low salary - below the average
    Lack of direction among executives
No clear path for advancing within the company

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be willing to pay employees competitively in order to retain them. Also, a lack of direction among executives/upper management created a rift in the positive culture of the company.

    Pros

It is a decent place to get your first experience in an office enviornment.

    Cons

Low pay, heavy workload, unappreciated by management, no incentives. They talk the talk and it all sounds great but reality is far, far different. You move up if your a man or part of the right clique. Hard work is rewarded by piling more on, and ignoring the employees when the legitimately say that they can't take on any more. 11 - 15 hour work days are the norm. Raises are 2%, regardless of how good of a job you do. Very little real communication from the "Head Office", Tenure means nothing - no added benefits, no ability to get promoted and no regard for years of dedication and hard work.

    Advice to Management

No point in giving advice - they don't listen to anyone anyway. Their turnover rate really ought to speak volumes. Especially when they see tenured employees leaving.

    Pros

Company culture is awesome! Activities and benefits are great with some of the best in the area. Employees "seem" generally happy.

    Cons

Favoritism abounds! Beware the "open door policy". If you go to the boss's boss prepare to be written up - hard. They seemed very lenient at the time, but absences became a player in the write up. It definitely depends on the supervisor you have as to how happy you are.

    Advice to Management

Senior management knows there is a salary mismatch of the jobs being performed. We spend hundreds of thousands on training, but they do not have a corporate trainer on site and spend money every month to fly them to the corporate location. Couln't we have that moey towards our paychecks?

    Pros

Great lower level people create a very inclusive atmosphere.

    Cons

Management can seem hostile (favoritism is rampant) at times and simply bloated and inefficient the majority of times

    Advice to Management

Cut out waste and focus on a more motivational culture

    A vibrant community of professionals
Across the company there's a lot of collaboration
    Working with some fun technologies

    Cons

    Benefits are quite light
Individual businesses can have some pretty poisonous cultures
Big disconnect between high levels of leadership and the business unit goals
There are a few really bad executives that create an unhealthy air of politics

    Advice to Management

Grow the culture that some of your younger, up-and-coming managers brings to the company
