I have been working at Donaldson Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Majority of employees have been with company 15 plus years. Best training and values I have seen in a company. Great advancement opportunities mostly in the US but internationally as well.

    Cons

salary was low for the position. Benefits were standard. Company was a bit over structured for my taste. Felt that a 50k position should be paid closer to 70k.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

increase saleries a bit to retain new employees.

    Pros

Very conservative.. Have to wait your turn to move up. Expect you to stay it same position 2+ years before moving up in the company. Great workplace environment. Great benefits.

    Cons

Very conservative. Won't spend money to upgrade offices/buildings.. Takes awhile to move up in company.

I worked at Donaldson Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Develops and manufactures world leading filtration solutions, historically a very stable business, currently achieving accelerated growth, serves customers with integrity and expertise, lots of kind, dedicated and intelligent employees, corporate is located in the Twin Cities which is a nice place to live and raise a family, pay and compensation is good.

    Cons

Not only does Upper Management and HR management turn a blind eye to serious harassment and bullying, they promote and encourage its continuation against the unwarranted recipient. This has set a precedence for an environment where employees contemplate between doing what the company's sponsored ethics training asks them to do while potentially losing their job or go with the status quo and live with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don’t assume that because an individual is a top performer in sales they're capable of effectively managing and leading sales people.

I have been working at Donaldson Company full-time

    Pros

There is not a lot of positives right now at Donaldson. We talk growth, but are not growing. We are losing people at an alraming rate and we are not strong enough to recruit top talent and we do not pay well enough. And the benefits continue to plummet and they removed the salaried pension plan. Why would you stay unless you are a 15+ year employee.

    Cons

It is about who you know to move up. Saalries low and benefits ever decreasing. Facilities are not modern and many people are in closets that have been made into offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask yourself why are so many leaving?

Nothing, no respect for the employees, the company looks like a prison, all people in the management actuate like big boss , they make you feel like useless and disposable

    Cons

Awful people they show not respect for nobody, you are disposable

    Pros

Strong, global company, with good benefits. I especially appreciated their great support of numerous charities.

    Cons

Within the Gas Turbine Systems division, emphasis is on getting product out the door cheaply. Up front investment in R&D only happens for the filtration media - not any other part of the product. Mid level management micromanages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in R&D in GTS. Get managers who are familiar with their area, rather than just the theory of management.

I worked at Donaldson Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to learn the operations of a global corporation and their manufacturing methods and observe numerous and humorous management styles.

    Cons

Cronyism management that steers individuals into being in a good old boys club by acting like a college party. Alcoholism is prevalent, you need to attend work drinking lunches to prevent a bad review from younger coworkers. Two hour sport talk sessions every morning by people who are not accountable for their work. Mechanically bereft engineers who paid for their degree instead of earning it are causing product recalls by professional incompetence. Disagreeing with favoritism and nepotism will put you on the bad review list despite your hard work and dedication. Not attending a blood drive will put you on a bad review list, even if you have a disability that prevents you from doing it. Pack rule and job loss fear are in store for you if you decide to come work here. Lower your expectations if you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lavish hotel parties, annual tent food bash, lavish trip to Rodondo Beach and cruise, and every department has outings with drink tickets; and then hiring a VP to cut jobs so your stock price stays high puts you in the lead of Unethical Corporate Greed.
You should have random drug testing for ALL management and leadership. Then try to value your dedicated employees.

I worked at Donaldson Company as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with Donaldson mainly because of the corporate culture there. All the coworkers I interacted with are friendly and helpful. I learned a lot of technical skills from them and they are always willing to share their knowledge. Donaldson also has many fun events going on throughout the year, such as picnic and amusement park trip, etc.

    Cons

The work can be slow, just like many other corporate jobs. But it also depends on your position and the of the year.

I worked at Donaldson Company as an intern

    Pros

Good company values and good experience. Always had work and felt appreciated by coworkers and some management.

    Cons

There was some micromanagement and was given responsibilities of several jobs without any pay increase. Pretty negative work environment. Not much room for career growth. Was not properly trained in the position and for the most part taught myself necessary skills to do well.

I worked at Donaldson Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Conservative culture and slow decisions make for a fat balance sheet. International footprint creates opportunity for travel. Budgets are ample for large initiatives if you are patient with the selling process. Polite and friendly people. Easy hours unless you are in a known stress project.

    Cons

Innovation, speed, and risk of any kind are discouraged. Systematic reverse discrimination active in certain support organizations. No room to make decisions below the unattainable Director level, and then micro-managed at the C-level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an average diversity model that targets diversity as a norm for all, instead of allowing for pockets of good ole boy, and reverse discrimination to create the average.

Actually accept some risk by allowing some funded innovation in every department.
