Pros
Great pay, excellent benefits, vacation, working with fun people, not having to wear dress clothes, not having to worry how to make ends meet
Cons
May not get the shift you want
Pros
Technological leader in its industry.
Very well respected brand.
Continuous and agressive growth, specially in emerging markets.
Cons
Small global company (<12,000 employees) with "family-business-like" management, at least in Latin America.
Lack of true high level human capital which might be a good thing for some employees with the right characteristics and high potential but can also turn out to be desmotivational since there are not a lot of high profile professionals to learn from.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more (renew) sales people with better experience and backgrounds, pay them better and offer them real & clear professional growth opportunities.
Pros
Good pay, easy work, low stress. The people are genuinely nice to work with on projects. There is almost no pressure at lower to middle career levels.
Cons
Unfortunately, the company doesn't have many competitors and therefore doesn't try to innovate anymore. Information within the company is rarely transferred between departments. Commitments made should always be written, otherwise the other departments get lazy and never follow through.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your employees! It is definitely irking your employees to report on the huge cash reserves and then tell them they are getting a raise less than inflation.
Pros
The pay is good and u get some good benefits, very nice people to work with and the Frankfort plant has one of the best plant managers!
Cons
Too many overtime hours in the summer, no more company parties or picnics which is very upseting for alot of the employees considering we spend alot of time at work and we make the company alot of money!
Advice to Senior Management
do more for your employees as far as bonuses, parties or picnics to show us that you appreciate the hard work we do for the company!
Pros
Awesome benefits, good pay, management interaction, enjoyable work atmosphere, opportunities to grow as an employee and as an individual
Cons
politics, some rules enforced for some and not others, catering to employees that whine and don't just accept their work responsibilities and rules
Advice to Senior Management
do not cater to ones that make things harder but the hard workers who make things easier for management and others
Pros
The company is very stable from a financial point of view and strives toward continuous growth. Most people are friendly and great to work with.
Cons
Donaldson is a very conservative company and sometimes lagging behind in terms of their IT technology. It is also often difficult to get clear direction on career path advancement and promotions.
Advice to Senior Management
As you're moving forward toward growth in the company pay attention to employee moral. Small perks will make big differences.
Pros
Fantastic benefits, good pay, great facilities
Cons
Difficulty in advancement and pay raises
Advice to Senior Management
thin out middle management
Pros
Very stable and conservative company. Takes a long view towards it's business, and has built a consistent track record of financial performance.
Cons
Does not invest enough in its systems and infrastructure. Senior Management does not value employee development. Still living in the 1950's. Talent retention has been a problem with younger (<40) year old employees
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your employees. Invest in your systems. You are running a $2 B USD business with the infrastructure, and mindset of a $100 M USD business.
Pros
If you BS with management and go out for beers with them, you're in! If you need flexibility to take care of your kids or additional training, refer to statement one.
Cons
Lots of double-talk out of both sides of the mouth; carrot sticks with no follow-through. The absolute worst corporate environment I have ever worked in.
Advice to Senior Management
Do you know what your managers are doing to your company? I think it's time you investigated.
Pros
I like to work for Donaldson because I can deploy myself. In either way, technically, sales or management skills. Donaldson supports training the employers.
Good working environnement.
Cons
Not all IT systems are up to date. There is a necessity to upgrade the IT infrastructure.
Even in Europe the American way of thinking is handled, even if legislation in Europe is different and give other alternatives than lay-off.
Advice to Senior Management
A Worldwide company should act globally and install systems that are accepted over the whole company. We need to become one, with respect to the customs of each region.
