    Pros

Good benefit, Free Summer Holidays, Almost no need to work overtime at all

    Cons

The product team knows nothing about what they are doing, the company culture is a horror story. Company structure of having 2 people for the same position (2 managers, 2-directors for the same project) causes a lot of power struggling and nobody cares about the project itself.

I worked at Donovan Data Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There was always a good work life balance, and it was a quality that the company valued. Location was great, office space was good. I had some great, smart co-workers and managers over the years.

    Cons

Management changes really rocked the solid heart that the company had for so many years. It was no longer a great place to work. People didn't matter any more, no matter what was being said. The actions were much more obvious. The firings and lay-offs were carried out in a horrible way & below the standards MD had carried for so long.

    Pros

Most people only work 6 hours. You might have to fix 1 bug a day.

    Cons

None of their programmers actually know Java. There are more managers than developers. The core of their "technology" is still in a mainframe from the 80's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Retire.

I have been working at Donovan Data Systems

    Pros

The work/life balance really is great. The location is amazing with the restaurants, shopping and nightlife-happy hours. Socially and for mental health and sanity, being around good people is a big plus. Flexible hours for start time and lunch time.

    Cons

Salary. How can a company with such dominance in the workplace not pay their employees at least the standard. (Which you find out what that is by talking to ex-employees working elsewhere, OR recruiters when searching for a new job) .

"more for less". I say, how about "more for more". When employees feel valued, they will give more, without question.

Each person will have their own laundry lists of problems. It really comes down to which team you work on, the managers, their style and the work you do...or don't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reassure the groups of people who aren't on the new-age Internet products that they have a place with the company in the near and upcoming future. There is a genuine feeling of severe unstability across many departments in the company.

Instead of looking outside the company for people with certain skills, look to your current employees first. Not everyone who works in their current department just has those skills. If you gave your existing employees that chance, plus paying them more, they wouldn't all be leaving to go to the direct competitor.

I have been working at Donovan Data Systems

    Pros

There is nothing much to say.
    Very good work life balance.
Haven for people who knows how to talk, but not knows how to work.

    Cons

lack of career growth. The annual raises are so low that it is a jock. The pay discrepancy between a lazy employee who is doing the minimum vs. another employee who goes above and beyond is so minimal that it's not worth the effort to work hard. In the long run, the company is filled with lazy people who can't get a job elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivate people by talking to the employee.
Give there feedback and follow throw the progress of the employee
Try to listen to the worker bees what they have to say. At the end they are the one who really works to make company success.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Good health package. Work is actually over with at 5pm. Great New York City location, right in the heart of chelsea

    Cons

Management is far removed from the actual applications. Like to lend out its employee's to various departments with no extra compensation. You'd be doing the work of someone who would most likely get paid double without an extra dime added to your paycheck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must improve the applications you produce. The advertising agencies wish they could use different software but right now the market is owned by DDS. If another software company came into the picture you could be in trouble.
