I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible, room for advancement, good training and job security.

    Cons

Overworked, bonus structure and benefits offered to reps but not to supervisors or managers for increasing team productivity since they are exempt employees, no value for hard working employees which in turn causes too much turn over.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate and value hard working employees. Compensate performing reps, supervisors and managers included since this will help retain talent within department and company.

I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some good people Benefit package is adequate with many options available Lake Zurich campus is nice, includes a fitness center Training department has course offerings to expand professional and technical skills.

    Cons

Salaries not up to industry standards. Disorganized environment, stressful and extremely fast-paced. Many areas are understaffed and overworked. Management doesn't have time/resources to be effective and prevent turnover. A "this how we've always done it" type of atmosphere. Long time staff resists change.

    Advice to Management

Bring in an outside consultant to reorganize and restructure, the company has suffered from recent growth and high turnover. Corporate culture is very negative. Staff is not appreciated.

  3. Highly disorganized, high turnover

I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They pay you more than McDonald's but still pay significantly less than competitors.

    Cons

High turnover means talented individuals get out after a year or two of experience, and only the dregs are left to pick up the slack. Errors due to lack of experience and knowledge are common, and there is little to no organizational structure and no effort by management to implement a system that actually works. Benefits are terrible, and pay is low according to industry standards. Despite growing business, no new employees are hired to compensate for the higher workload, and overtime is common. I've seen some departments work Saturdays for over a year because they can't handle the volume, yet no systemic changes are made to correct the problem.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, stop relying on vendors that do shoddy work, give better benefits, and pay workers more so they actually have an incentive to stay. No one wants to work here.

I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Several locations - Lake Zurich, Elgin, and North Aurora. There are some very good associates at Dovenmuehle Mortgage. You can work part-time for the company.

    Cons

Low Pay. Upper Management rarely interacts with any front line associates. The company has tried to implement some suggestions for process efficiency but lacks the will to put resources behind improvements. Six Sigma or Lean Management would go along way for this company. The first thing you normally hear is we cannot do that. Pay is very low, facilities are in poor shape except for the headquarters, and the operation is run more like a blue collar environment than white collar. Upper Management has really done a poor job on talent selection when choosing associates from the outside.

    Advice to Management

You need to walk the talk, promote good associates from within, or hire better talent from the outside and not be afraid to spend a little money. There are many ways to make the operations more efficient if they would take a look at the operations, listen to associates, and make some investments. Many of the Upper Management do not understand what their associates do or have to complete in order for the operation to run. They are far removed and therefore will have more issues with keeping clients, associates, and complying with laws and regulations.

    Pros

Very helpful team members. Team was always available to assist with any questions or issues I had.

    Cons

Location of offices far from major expressways. Winter and days with bad weather proved location difficult to get to.

    Advice to Management

If location were near major expressway, many new , qualified applicants would have better access to the office.

I have been working at Dovenmuehle Mortgage (Less than a year)

    Pros

It beats food stamps but not by much.

    Cons

Salary is pitiful and way out of touch with norms. They treat people like cattle - if not it management then it's a "check your brain at the door" approach. If you are an hourly person you are just a part of the furniture - they don't want to hear anything from you but yes sir. Benefits are deplorable. Not allowed to use internet at work - AT ALL. Cell phones are forbidden. Dress code like back in the 50s. This is seriously the worst company I've ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if you actually made an effort to MEET the new people hired into your department. But they probably aren't going to be there that long, so why bother.

I worked at Dovenmuehle Mortgage part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The cafeteria downstairs (at the Lake Zurich location) was pretty good. The walk there was also nice (though it is far and sucks a lot of time out of your break). Free coffee!

    Cons

No one knows what's going on. Ever. The software is so outdated that backspace isn't a thing and the screen is still black with green text. I'm pretty sure I'M younger than the software they use. No one is interested in what's efficient or what would make sense, only doing what they have to do to keep their jobs. Absolutely 0 innovation within the company. Fast turnover rate. 90% of the conversations you hear are about how everyone wants to leave.

    Advice to Management

Update software to something within your employees' lifetime. Work on department cohesiveness. Generally, understand what it means to live outside of the 1980's. At least have a short class to teach new members how to use fax machines and computer programs from 1993.

    Pros

Location is fantastic Fitness center onsite Wonderful talented individuals

    Cons

Toxic workplace! If you upset Sr Management you are done! Do NoT think outside of the box, this is frowned upon Technology is so outdated Employees so underpaid

    Advice to Management

Please retire and allow some of the deserving VP and Managers take your place and breathe life into the place! Stop yelling at people and providing such vague bogus feedback to ensure no raise. Shame on you! Your retention issues are your own fault and very simply resolved! Pay your people, train your people and lead your people!
