I worked at Dow AgroSciences full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Chemistry+Biology; promising product pipelines; product focused research strategy

    Cons

As the company grows, some typical big corp. signs start to appear - bureaucracy, give undeserved credits to those like to "floating' on the surface, technical experts were led by non-technical managers to make decisions on research projects. Too much irrelevant trainings to the researchers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to really value the down-to-the-earth, hard working employees.

    Pros

Positive culture and work/life balance. Plenty of opportunities to grow for valued employees.

    Cons

Convoluted Capital Planning make project management difficult. May not be investing tin the right areas to maintain their growth strategy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to invest in long-term research. I see a lot of resistance to projects that have protracted Returns but are nonetheless valuable and necessary for continued growth.

I worked at Dow AgroSciences part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Company provided some opportunities. Had solid relations with employees. Communication was straightforward. People worked together and had fun. Work had value. Thought was used to create work. Many people wanted to help out at work. Work life balance was better than average. Had a chance to learn a lot from some great people.

    Cons

Pay could have been better. Managers could have given more chances. Training was good but not great. People seemed scared to speak up. Indy was not the best city. Got homesick. Did not fit in with culture around the area. Not really accommodating for me to be my best. A lot of complaining sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder to get to know people. Listen and do not pass judgement. Become better equipped to solve problems faster. Learn how to write constructive memos and emails.
