    Pros

One can gain a lot of experience, learn a lot, and make good connections if you are proactive. There are many great people to work with here, and they offer 9/80 and 4/10 schedules, as well as other flexible schedules if worked out with HR and your supervisor.

    Cons

Because the last big hiring period of technical people was 20+ years ago, there is a lack of training programs and on-boarding procedures that leave many young hires frustrated if they do not know how to network and ask the right people for help whenever needed. The company also seems to be set on a course where R&D is not appreciated as much as it was before - leaving many unsure if there really are opportunities for growth. Location is a big con if you are not a small town living kind of person

    Advice to Management

Management styles that have taken over in the past few years are not ideal, especially for the younger generation - too much micromanagement, with upper management promising too much to those above them and to Wall Street, without any regard for those below who have to do the work to meet those promises. Also, it is not encouraging when management solicits employee suggestions for job satisfaction improvement, and then subsequently does nothing about the situation year after year.

    Pros

Very diverse company. Building is nice. I don't have a lot of positive things to say about Dow seeing my experience there was not good.

    Cons

They monitor everything you do. There are cameras every where, they provide you with a badge that you must slide anytime you come or go. This also times you as well. Cafeteria is awful with little selection and unsanitary workers. The employee to contactor ratio is bad. There is no chance of every becoming permanent. There are people there that have been contractors for 15+ years and want to go on full time but Dow doesn't hire on contractors.

    Pros

The schedule flexibility and team building evrents.

    Cons

Contractors do not get the benefit of the doubt (even when right) when it comes to contractor vs direct hire.

    Advice to Management

Give the good contractors a shot at interviewing for direct hire positions in which they would excel.

    Pros

Working with highly professional and smart people. Receiving good training constantly. Compensation and benefits are good.

    Cons

Constant reorganization and management change cause inconsistency. Career advancement has more to do with networking than merit. Technical career track fairly slow.

    Advice to Management

    Be consistent and inspirational.

    Pros

Opportunity to work with great people, excellent benefit and work-life balance. Dow offers 9-80 or 4-10 schedule along with 5-8. I have nothing but only great thing to say about Dow.

    Cons

Using force ranked for evaluation can be troublesome for some cases. Many times, force ranked method could be biased to people who are responsible for bigger projects compare to one who might be responsible for multiple small projects.

    Advice to Management

Other than the evaluation process, I do believe Dow is a great company.

    Pros

People below senior leadership are great, well some

    Cons

Senior leadership- they just want to cut heads

    Advice to Management

Think about what you are doing to people, we can't work to death with less people. NEA is making it worse and so inefficient.

    Pros

There are no pros for HDC

    Cons

I have worked with Dow on 2 of its largest capital projects. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST especially if you plan to come in as a contractor. Senior management treats people like crap here. No matter how much work you put in, how friendly you are or much of a contribution you try to make, you are consistently muffled and told "to stay in your lane." The turnover rate is high and the leadership teams will stick up for other Dow employees even if they are at fault. There is a manager here who has been reported multiple times to HR and to respective staffing agencies and they refuse to do anything about this way this person is treating their employees. Work processes are not properly put in place and many of them are very effective. The few people who have been able to climb the ladder or obtain permanent positions with Dow, had to back stab and brown nose their way in to the lunch table with senior leaders. This place has so many meetings that one is never able to complete work or tasks that are assigned. Unfortunately with all of the meetings, nothing is ever resolved. My counterparts are often depressed with coming here everyday and the job itself is nothing more than a Data Entry Admin Assistant. And the trouble is not just for contract employees, hundreds of Dow staff have been forced into early retirement. If you are not "friends" wit the higher ups, they will get rid of you.

    Advice to Management

Management spends too much time, throwing others under the bus and blaming their employees for errors rather than spending time training and developing them. You wonder why your turnover rate is so high but just remember that people don't leave bad companies, they leave bad management.
