Nicest place I've ever worked, too bad it won't last.

I have been working at Dow Pharmaceutical as a contractor

    Pros

Everyone here will agree that the people here are the nicest people to work with. Everyone does a great job at what they do, are knowledgeable, and willing to train others.

    Cons

Parent company Valeant has laid-off a significant portion of the company, so the future of this company is questionable.

    Negative Outlook
  2.

Great before it was purchased by Valeant, Mike Pearson put it out of business.

    Pros

None that I can think of.

    Cons

Run by group of corporate raiders who ruin every company they purchase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Close the whole mess down and sell the piece parts now while they're worth something

    I worked at Dow Pharmaceutical

    Pros

Good salary for the North SF Bay area. Dow is a small fast-paced company, and you have lots of opportunities to wear lots of hats. Very results-oriented environment.

    Cons

Communication from executive management and sharing of information across functional areas is sorely inadequate. Micromanagement is king at the senior management level. Dow struggles between trying to be a service provider business versus an internal drug development company - doing neither role really well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The new direction of Dow / Valeant to reduce internal R&D headcount and costs and focus more on acquiring later-stage drug products may benefit stockholders in the short term, but this is not likely to be a good long-term strategy if Valeant wants to be a growing specialty pharma company.
