    Pros

    Casual atmosphere and very laid back environment.

    Cons

    There was NO training and NO respect for the work that was done. There was also no opportunity to grow within the company. "Lifers" aside, they give no regard for anyone else and HR has a tendency to treat you like you are the problem when issues are presented.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Encouragement and growth opportunities are important!!! No one wants a dead-end job.

    The customers you work with are darling in any single way. It's been a pleasure to work with people over 60's

    Cons

    No respect from upper management. Very low pay, no room for promotion. They rather bring somebody new to pay with nothing than to promote an existing employee and give her/him more

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better learn that paying $2.00 more an experienced employee brings you more business than winning on pay for somebody new. Better win a faithful employee for years than losing him/her forever.

    Pros

    Positive work environment (most of the time). Great flexibility of attire & hours. Amazing people to work with and share loyalty to our brand.

    Cons

    Disconnect from senior management. Unbalanced work load between managers and staff. Lack of training. Communication skills need to be greatly improved when 'workers' are doing a project or are in need of direction. The confidence in management staff is greatly lacking.

    Understand what your staff is doing and work to support them with their amount of work. Also, management training is really needed...

    Pros

    Employees can purchase their clothing at steep discounts, both at their "sample sales" and discounts via catalog purchases. This is perfect if the employee fits into the customer niche (women over 50) or has someone in their family to buy gifts for. Their location in Irvine is right off the 405 freeway. I would like to say that Draper's & Damon's invests a lot in employee training, but I cannot. I would also like to say that the employee amenities are super, but no can do. A refrigerator, TV and microwave are provided, as is coffee. And those are appreciated.

    Cons

    Low salaries but -- more important -- a general disregard for employees. The general consensus was that Draper's and Damon's hired employees right out of school (a fashion school is in close proximity) when their salary expectations were low, so that the employees would be eager-beavers and knock themselves out as merchandise assistants in hopes of promotions or wage increases. Not so. There was very little promotion from within -- either in that department or in customer service. Little or no training (other than the bare minimum required). The management in the call center had a very low opinion of employees and treated them like tissues to be tossed the second they got dirty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be a little more open about what's happening, and treat employees with more respect. This is not directed so much at Brad Farmer, but at the managers below him. Especially in Human Resources, whose employees take a definite holier-than-thou attitude instead of helping.
