    Pros

It was the best experience ever. You learn so much in such a short amount of time. Everyone is warm, welcoming, and a team player!

    Cons

The only bad thing about it is the location. Mahwah, NJ isn't the most convenient area for everyone, but is worth traveling to.

    Advice to Management

Hire the youth. Training is easy, it's the innovation that is irreplaceable. The company is changing and so should the ideas.

I have been working at Dress Barn part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoy working here! The people are extremely friendly and they make you feel like you are at home.

    Cons

Shorter hour+s (20-29). I'm used to working retail where they want you to work 30+ hours for retail.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! This is such a great place to work.

I have been working at Dress Barn part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Love the one on one with the the customers... The work is pretty easy... And the dicount is great. Live the moto.. Make every women look and feel beautiful

    Cons

My store manager keeps hireing all her friend and family and pushing out those who arent... They only look out for eachother and change the rules for different associates... They give people they like more hours even if they dont do any work there whole shift and then make everyone suffer and get what they get.. And pick up there slack but not there pay check..

    Advice to Management

If your gonna hire your friends and family at least train them to do something besides stand there... Were not in highschool anymore lets stop with the mean girls groups and just all do are part and help make the store run smoothly for the customers... Because in the end they technically pay our bills

I have been working at Dress Barn full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits and discount if you can afford it.

    Cons

-I have been a Sales Associate for 5 years. I was and am told I am an extremely hard worker more so then assistant managers. Due to the fact I do not fit the physical look the company is looking for I am not advancing. We are told to make all customers look and feel beautiful but that mentality is not applied to the employees. -The pay is laughable. Despite how little you make you are expected to spend your hard earned money on purchasing whatever is currently being promoted. If you don't want to management will say you need to be a team player. -Hours. Only store managers and assistant managers have guaranteed hours. Full time associates don't and neither do part time associates. Yet they are always trying to hire more people

    Advice to Management

-The word manager is just that. A word. It's doesnt mean boss others around and pretend to work. Stop forcing associates having to deal with rude customers while you just stand and watch. -Management needs to be better trained and evaluated. -District managers should talk to sales associates during visits as well. Most of the times these are the people doing most of the work. -Compensate employees better and there would not be such a high turn over right. -Promote from within and develop the talent you have on board. -If you have someone in the same position for more then 2 yrs ask yourself why arent they growing and being developed
