Never ever work as a contractor here!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Wilmington, DE

ProsThere are some good people, and people that have been working there have been there a very long time. Salary level is good, and they are using the latest software platforms, so you can sharpen your skills.

ConsDo not work here as a contractor. They hire only a small number of their contractors. The "Employees" treat contractors as second class citizens.
They company goes on and on about their "Core Values", which includes respect for people. Leaving a contractor with no benefits and no vacation time for years does not show them respect.

Advice to Senior ManagementYes, I see that you NEED contractors. Bring them in for a 6 to 12 month period, and then hire them. Use your core values to show respect for the people that are talking to your customers, and doing all the hard work for you.

    Quality company - Wrong Industry

    Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op (Former Employee)

ProsGreat employees. It really had this family feel to the staff. Managers tried to relieve nerves and help you obtain meaningful work.

ConsHousing was not provided but pay was high enough to counteract that.
Crop Protection should not be the primary focus from Ellen (CEO). They should focus on the material science side and expanding the opportunities in the electronic device industry.
They should also focus on the quality of the training services for Operators.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are many other products to expand upon other than Crop Protection. Please focus on those opportunities.

    Great learning and working environment!!!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEveryone is very friendly and willing to help you with any problem you may have. Great business and well structured. Competitive pay, and very safe for a chemical plant.

ConsThere is a lot of red tape to go through to get things done and the safety procedures are numerous and sometimes redundant. Previous generation did not do a good job of keeping up with the maintenance works.

Good benefits, an old company with a lot of people playing politics

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood 401k match up to 9% of the salary! Easy life at work without much pressure as compared to a small company.

ConsYou do not learn much technically over the years. Many people advance career by playing politics, such as organizing safety review often, and kissing up managers. There is lack of accountability of failing a project due to poor management and incompetency.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to hire managers who know the technical well.

    Good company to work for

New Business Development Manager (Former Employee)
    Raleigh, NC

ProsA very reputed company with many great inventions in the 1930-1980. It also carries many valuable brand name. One of the most ethical and safety conscious company. Good for dual-career couple. Many talented scientists and engineers in Corporate Experimental Station.

ConsLately, more and more young professionals rose upquickly to management position within a BU without a deep understanding of the foundation of the technology/business. None of the young generation management is a true risk taker but driving more towards conscensus. It makes the decision process extremely lengthy, ineffective and often time wrong decision. They are also more short-term focused for immediate results and neglect the need of a balance for mid-term and long-term development.

Advice to Senior ManagementSuccession plan and development at every level needs to be carried out in a meaningful way, not just for the formality. A true leader is one who know how to lead a business with a balance short-, mid- and long-term strategy and plan.
