I have been working at DuPont Performance Materials

    Pros

Fun and friendly environment make coming to work enjoyable. The people are great. Human resources do a fine job, and the technical aspects are challenging.

    Cons

People can get so busy that they forget to recognize you for your efforts. Middle management can be disorganized and inefficient. Opportunity to gain new experiences comes at a cost of personal sacrifice for little gain. Advancement doesn't necessarily come with an increase in pay, just a change in responsibility and status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The first line supervisor is the key to bringing the team in sync with organizational objectives. Place more of an emphasis in developing these key personnel into the leaders they need to be, and hold them accountable for falling short of expectations.

I worked at DuPont Performance Materials

    Pros

    Good pay and Good benefits

    Cons

Sector hit hard by economy, people are doing anything to keep their jobs
    Morale is suffering
Too much work for too few people right now

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show more appreciation and compassion to employees. Provide employees with the tools and resources they need to do their jobs. Technology that does not necessarily meet the needs of the company have been forced upon employees - recent technology decisions have made employee's jobs more difficult. Shortcuts were taken to save money, but will cost more in the long run.

I worked at DuPont Performance Materials

    Pros

DuPont is one of the largest employers in a small area and one of the best paying. Would recommend working as an operator, since they work hard at keeping them happy. Not so true with salaried jobs.

    Cons

Management changes frequently and they do not receive training. The attitude is sink or swim - especially since they had to go through that first. They provide less training than anywhere else I have ever worked and there was a lot of fingerpointing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your managers and listen to employee feedback. HR totally backs the managers, not the people who report to them. I had heard that before working there and discovered it was very true.
