I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

co-workers were generally helpful, good amount of sick time and vacation.
most positions are monday to friday 7 to 3:30. clean environment.

    Cons

during harvest or planting you will have no life! you cannot bid into a different position so you will be stuck where you are forever. advancement is only by favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

quit worrying about non-issues and get back to the basics.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer

    Pros

    not much comes to mind

    Cons

It's a white male Dom company. Mgmt has no vision and this is not a place if u r a free thinker and come up with new ideas. Glass ceiling very obvious for minorities and women. Company is very good at following competition and has difficulty being a leader. Even internal surveys has pointed it out but mgmt looks the other way. In all, if u r looking for a challenging career with recognition for ur work then this is NOT the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's important to own up to mistakes and take responsibility. Because of failure of leadership the employees have to face adversity.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time

    Pros

Many competent engineers to help from DuET

    Cons

Managers are skirt chasers who promote women.

    Low ethics for managers.

One mistake - no warning- competent employees get fired.

Safety in words is paramount with elaborate investigations, but discovered root causes are censored by plant managers.

Respect for People, the core value, is a sham. It only means respect boss' favorite ladies and Him, because he is the God.

Managers' Cronies are rewarded at every opportunity. Competent people who differ in opinion with their managers are chastised.

Don't be a male working for Dupont, just wear a skirt and suck up to the manager and your success is guaranteed.

Divide and Rule different deparents and individuals is the mantra of the managers.

Fire your competent people as consulting companies at 10x higher cost can do marginal work.

Just don't be a thinker, as you can hire a consultant to do a marginal job.

If you really are "Committed to Zero", help the manager in shutting and possibly shuttering the plant down. A closed plant means no incidents or accidents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your head out of sand and dump the so called core values. If you want to maintain these, practice and enforce what you preach.

Hire competent managers from the outside.

Stop the brain drain by forcing competent people to retire, quit, or firing them. Consulting firms is not really a good at all times.

Have checks and balances on your managers' chasing favoring women who may be attractive or providing some sexual favors.

Respect employees who may have an opinion not shared by managers.

    Stop treating managers like gods.

Pay respect to the shareholders for making money.

Stop acting like a government. Be less bureaucratic and work as a corporation who wants to make money for the shareholders.

Establish a whistleblower line and act on what the whistleblowers complain off.

Try to stop cronyism and favoritism by the managers by establishing independent committees that promote individuals based on merit, some risk taking, and independent thinking that is not biased by unit or plant managers.

Try team building for a change rather than Divide and Conquer principle amongst individuals in the same department and different departments. That just protects marginal managers.

Coach the managers to stop playing God. Establish a warning system, where competent employees do not get fired for first mistake because they are males or are not the male boss' favorites.

Trivial safety comments cannot let a large project stop unless a a multi day "What If" or elaborate but sham trivial investigation is conducted.

Make money for shareholders by being productive and efficient.
