I worked at DuPont as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Excellent company. They have a unique culture and are very proud of their history. Core values are of utmost importance and are carried out on a daily basis. Worked with many great people. Everyone was more than willing to help me out and teach me the ropes.

    Cons

The company makes it seem like there are ample opportunities to gain employment after internship, however the amount of positions they have available is very limited. Additionally they are in the process of reorganizing the company so it was very hectic scheduling meetings.

I worked at DuPont full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Talented, intelligent, and respectful people. Company has core values (ethical behavior, safety, environmental stewardship, respect for people) and actually talks and practices them everyday. Great information technology support for all job positions.

    Cons

Insufficient agility to harness next generation opportunities to create long-term value. Focused on this quarter's results. Team performance seems to vary from plant to plant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more corporate leaders populating their own personal SharePoint sites to encourage likewise collaboration of all employees. Non-engineers can make a contribution also!

I worked at DuPont as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Great training opportunities
    - Ability to network around company
    - Given meaningful projects as a co-op
    - Learned a great deal about DuPont culture and history through tours, plant site visits, etc.
    - Collaborative environment, felt comfortable approaching other employees including senior leaders

    Cons

    - Some work was very core value heavy, would have liked to have spent more time on more impactful projects
    - Did not pay for intern housing
    - Ambiguity of whether or not full time offers would be given out after completion of co-op
    - Not a very progressive or forward thinking company, "old-fashioned"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company undergoing a lot of changes, should approach with a "people-first" mentality with many folks on edge about losing their jobs

I worked at DuPont full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Recognition for strong performance, fast track to management, opportunity to move up salary and responsibility. The company in general has a family type feel, and once you are "in" there are opportunities to find your best fit job type where you can be of most value.

    Cons

Poor manufacturing discipline, low margin products mean bare bones staffing for some businesses, slow management of change process, corporate bureaucracy tends to prevent major changes being implemented. Currently DuPont is undergoing large scale changes in business sector and there will be uncertainty about location and job advancement for the next 5 years,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work life balance is overall quite good. DuPont treats employees fairly and with respect.

    I worked at DuPont

    Pros

The site is relatively small, so it is easy to get to know a lot of people. Plenty of very smart, easy-going, and fun individuals call this place "work", so it is a fun place to be at. There are a variety of projects, so the work environment can be very dynamic.
The building also has a nice vibe and there is a good atmosphere overall.

    Cons

DuPont's acquisition has changed the environment, and not necessarily for the best. There is a lot more bureaucracy and micromanagement of life outside work. The company also doesn't seem to promote often enough, and sometimes decides keep people with a fair amount of experience at the same job level for a prolonged amount of time despite consistent performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more clear with how you handle performance and promotions. Take into account experience and training when handing out job duties and titles.

I have been working at DuPont as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, positive attitude, interesting work. Haven't been there long enough to judge management quality. They pay co-ops based on credits completed towards their degree which I believe is fair.

    Cons

Very large, has bureaucratic safety policy that most big chemical companies have. If you work at a production site, the work environment can be hazardous.
