    Pros

Job security, pay, and prestige are there. Fairly lax work environment where no one is breathing down your neck.

    Cons

Everything else. Nothing gets done. Everyone just pushes the status quo and tries to meet sales goals without trying to improve long term. No one cares about you when you're starting out...it's about seniority, not how much you contribute or can contribute.

    Advice to Management

Give everyone a fair chance to show what they can do. Don't limit creativity or passion.

Expected more from a well established and respected company.

    Pros

Wonderful company if you are able to talk you way up the ladder instead of being knowledgable.

    Cons

Upper Management will lie to you in order for them to get things done that they need completed. It's unfortunate that you can't trust anyone there.

    Advice to Management

Follow you beloved Core Values - Respect for People. Stop lying to your employees and start telling the truth. Care for your employees the way the DuPont family did when they had control of the company, after all they are the ones that are working the hardest making the products allowing you to make your millions in stock options and compensation packages.

Let you contribute to 401K as intern. Matched $ for $ up to 6%

    Cons

it took a few days before my laptop was ready and secure.

    Pros

Impressive heritage, a history of being an innovator. Good benefits, good 401k, and a very diverse workforce and leadership team. Very strong ethics and integrity.

    Cons

The company is transitioning from a chemical company into a more biotech focus and they are divesting the old assets associated with chemicals. They are too focused on what Wall St thinks about them. Very short term quarter to quarter management focus. Employees are leaving because the salary is not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Develop a longer term management philosophy. Tell the Wall St analysts to stick to crunching numbers and stop trying to tell you how to manage a manufacturing company. Continue to push new product development and R&D efforts.

    Pros

Large, stable company with a science-driven culture and huge emphasis on safety of employees. Moderate to good on salary and trying to treat people with respect.

    Cons

Can get bogged down in bureaucracy of a large company. Sometimes feels like focus on near-term profit goals gets in the way of supporting long-term scientific innovation, especially in cases where taking business risk is involved. Can be very stove-piped between business units, again limiting potential innovation and market capture.

    Pros

Great products, little accountability ( from top to bottom), aging equipment that requires constant maintenance, run to fail mode ensuring chaos maintenance and OVERTIME-yay, knee-jerk reaction to equipment failures-yay more OT.

    Cons

Cronyism, nepotism and politics are the order of the day. Stay in the "most-favored nation" status or a bad day is in your future.

    Advice to Management

Any 1st line that hasn't progressed to 2nd line in 8 years please move on. Any 2nd line that won't enforce this-please move on. Any 3rd line that wont spend time on the floor-please move on.

  10. Good company to work for but has some issues with confliting priorities such as the safety-cost cutting paradox.

    Pros

Good development opportunities and great people to work with depending on the plant and the sub-business unit.

    Cons

I had a bad boss once that did not know how much her ex-employee, who she promoted to another section of the plant, was sabotaging her subordinates' work stream to get back to her for a bad review she gave him years earlier. The situation was difficult and ugly.

The company has competing priorities between making money and ensuring that sites are compliant with the company's safety policies.

    Advice to Management

Watch out for employees that are all about themselves and keep critical information from other coworkers in order to make themselves look good.
