I worked at DuPont full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Could go long stretches of time just playing on the internet, stayed just 40 hours, paid for professional certifications.

    Cons

Raises delayed, bonuses cut, staff reduced and work increased, culture of gossip and backstabbing, isolated work groups, reduced tuition reimbursement, vague promotion plans, outdated systems.

    Advice to Management

Good luck, too much has declined.

The possibility new ideas and suggestions may be overlooked due to the company's size and layers of Management.

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.

  7. Good company overall. Benefits okay. Bureaucratic and bottom up culture makes it hard to get things done.

I worked at DuPont (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits; stable company (been around for over 200 years); good people to work with

    Cons

Bureaucratic culture makes it hard to get things done. Bottom up culture makes standardization and corporate efforts very difficult; Lots of leaders but no "worker bees"

    Advice to Management

Hold plants accountable for their performance (availability, quality, compliance, costs); When you set a standard, the plants must be required to comply or what's the point?

I worked at DuPont full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Trust the history and future of the company. True innovation and opportunity to change the world for the better with their science. Great work-life balance, easy hours that most people follow

    Cons

Not the fastest company to move, and kind of stuck in some conservative ways. The focus on safety and ethics is great, but sometimes leads people to lie

    Advice to Management

Be more open to new, modern ideas. Young people leave because they do not feel like they belong, and there is a lot of red tape to get through if you want to get anything done. There are many programs and jobs that seem to be unnecessary, and therefore people take a lot of time doing unimportant research and implementing unnecessary products.

I worked at DuPont full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

DuPont, in general, focuses on specialty products. There are few commodity businesses that are mainly used as cash generators. There are opportunities to support products that you can be proud to work on.

    Cons

I was at DuPont for ~4.5 years and had two jobs working at different manufacturing sites. In that time I had 6 different bosses. Expectations from each one of them was different and it was sometimes difficult to understand what they defined as success before they moved on. It felt like a constant guessing game.

    Advice to Management

If you have never worked in particular aspect of a business, like R&D, MT, Tech Service, etc., do not show up and act like you know everything. Listen and learn.
