I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good for people who want to hold on to their tiny turf and run politics day in and day out while waiting for retirement.

    Cons

    Ridden with politics
No work or project gets done
Core values are talked about but rarely implemented.
"Respect for people" is a myth.
Some where along the way, DuPont lost its safety and environmental excellence. Currently, the trend is to live off yester years legacy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on bringing the company up to speed with rest of the world. There is lot of stagnation and some facilities seem to be living in a time capsule.

    I worked at DuPont

    Pros

Good place to gain experience working in a manufacturing intensive environment. Good 410k and insurance. The name goes a little distance when talking with other employers.

    Cons

Well below average salaries and bonuses. Hired on as a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters Degree in TX with several years experience in manufacturing from another industry. The pay was $35k lower than the average salary of a person directly out of college, same level of education and no experience. I had been laid off from a different market due to a down turn in sales of telecommunication fiber cable. I could not be too choosey. Little to no bonuses for engineering salaried personnel but larger bonuses for management.

DuPont in the location I was in (Sabine River, Orange, TX) was not very supportive of active duty reserve members. After being deployed to Iraq, management said I would not be promoted any higher in my management role until out of the military. Very distasteful and lowers morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat wage roll and salaried personnel with greater respect. Also, current management need to be evaluated for discriminatory practices against military members.

    Pros

International experience/travel, Well recognized and respected company, Company been around for over 200 years, great benefits and advancement opportunities

    Cons

Large company politics, slow to make changes, focus is more on stock value vs employees and customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused on your customer needs and realize your actions affect the entire supply chain.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Benefits are Good. Safe Work Environment. Flex Time is a Plus. Vacation is Real Good. Advancement Opportunities are Available. Interesting Production System and Product.

    Cons

Salary Ok. Could Be Better. Management and Engineer Turnover Happens Way to Often. Management Does Little to Keep High Performing Employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold People Accountable. Do More to Keep High Performers.

    Recommends
