Advice to Senior Management
get with program
Pros
benifits package is very decent and better than most companies
Cons
it's all about who's your friend to get promoted & they have you working ^ days with no overtime!
Advice to Senior Management
look at other companies it's cool iyou just got out of school or have no personal life but long term...no way
Pros
Work life balance and laid back office.
Cons
Poor compensation and health benefits.
Pros
The in-store managers are nice.
Cons
The district managers treat their employees like crap.
Advice to Senior Management
The district managers need to take classes to learn how to manage people professionally.
Pros
Flexible hours, SOME good coworkers, near good places to eat during lunchtime.
Cons
Catty Coworkers, rampant jealousy from lab techs towards sales associates due to it being a temporary position. Slightly aggravating customers. Annoying micromanager boss. Lies and misconstruing rampant. Backstabbing and insulting coworkers.
Advice to Senior Management
I will tell you what one of the nice coworkers told me, "Don't stay here. You better make this place just a seasonal, summer job. It's good that you're in school. Stay in school."
Let me tell you what the BETTER Pharmacist said, "Stay in school for as long as you possibly can." You be the judge.
Pros
For full time empoyees you can receive great vacation pay, some managers very understanding about having a personal life. Learn alot about the retail bussiness.
Cons
Even though it is a good job, it is totally not worth working there. The workload is sometimes unbearable for the pay they give. No matter how hard one works you get paid the minuum. I've been working in duane reade for more than 2 years and still i have not recieved a raise for my performance. The only way to make more money would be being promoted to shift leader which mean working for $3 extra an hour and you are doing stock and mangers job.
Advice to Senior Management
Duane Reade should give raises on performance. Managers know the potential we have but cant not give any reward for it because the company itself does not allow it. It has to be more of a place where you go to work and of you work hard enough theres a chance of advancement not just go everyday and slave yourself away for the same pay and samething everyday.
Pros
stores are remodeling. so the work environment feels good. clean. you want to go to work and enjoy the surrounds
Cons
downsides at working at duane reade are long hours, no pay overtime, stressful customers cuz they always have to be right.
Advice to Senior Management
work in the store so one can understand how the worker feel, a guy making more than minimum wage is a happier worker
Pros
enhance customer service skills and paid vacatiion and holidays for full time employees
Cons
disrespectful managers and rude customers
Advice to Senior Management
management should be well trained tobe able to perform good customer service when undrer stressful situations
Pros
Some managers are good while...others...Make you think twice about about retail.
There is a 10% discount for employees.
As a manager I know what the mark-ups are on most items
Cons
Pay is not worth the effort they expect. Management does more leg work than some cashiers and stock associates in most stores.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior Management made way too many threats to store management about visiting stores and making sure the high standards are met.
Pros
it was convenient in terms of a job. Helped me gain necessary skills required when working in retail. Reasonable hours if you have prior obligations.
Cons
Salary was lowsy. i went from 7.15 an hour to 7.80 in 2 years. Didnt promote me getting a higher position within the store.
Advice to Senior Management
perhaps you can avoid fabrication in terms of pay raises promised to employees prior to being employed and allow reasonable spaces between company visits
