    Pros

Environment, research, technology, access, sponsorship of work-related travel, collaboration with other universities, collaboration with other research groups, collaboration on an international level.

    Cons

Massive separation of offices that should be better coupled, eg. Fees/Payroll/Registry. On-campus conveniences very expensive. Some 'tenured' staff should be let no where near the education system. Some of the worst on-campus parking of any campus I have visited.

    Advice to Management

Better employee reviews of lecturers, perhaps in-class auditing, anonymous student auditing. Less of an incestuous relationship between DCU/Trispace/Spar, and fairer prices no just for staff but students too. For a campus of 10000k+ students, and then staff & lecturers/researchers on top, having barely 1k parking spaces is beyond a joke.

    Pros

Peaceful working environment. Lots of smart people. not enough industry involvement and cross institution activities

    Cons

not active, especially in summer time, most of people i know would have a long holiday during the summer.

    Pros

Innovative, Open to ideas, Free-speaking place, Fantastic learning opportunities

    Cons

You need to be very self-motivated to get your work done, which is a good trait to have, but a bit of encouragement would be nice from time to time.

    Advice to Management

There should be more incentive for people to finish PhD's earlier. There is a tendency for people to just float along a bit.

    Pros

Good personal relations, good organization, good labs

    Cons

Sometimes we struggle to keep the step with the best labs in the world in means of new equipment.

    Advice to Management

    Very good work-life balance

    Pros

Great people to work with and the overall work atmosphere is very good in terms of work related stress. You can maintain a reasonably sound balance between the demands of work and your personal life.

    Cons

Bureaucracy can be rather tedious at times particularly when you need something in a hurry. I sometimes just went and got things for myself rather than wait for supplies to be delivered days later.

    Pros

Some good people, some interesting work. Student interaction always good - it keeps you on your toes. The president is eager. There is a lot of scope to make a difference.

    Cons

Lack of resources. Some people have a public sector sense of entitlement. The president runs the risk of over promising and under delivering. There is no internal focus on the delivery of everything he is setting out to achieve. Over the last number of years salaries have gone way down, as have resources.

    Advice to Management

Worry about how you need to bring internal people with you. Just stating that the organisation is going to do something is not enough - you need to make it happen.

    Pros

Funding situation was great. Facilities are very good.

    Cons

Toomuch of a favoritism. And promotion is mostly based on that. Very unfair and you feel depressed and helpless when the least productive ones go up the ladder so easily.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Employees should be promoted on merit.
