    Pros

You can't beat working for a place that is trying to conserve wetlands. They are also really good at it, and it is fun to work for a police that is at the top of its field.

    Cons

Sort of an old work model, not much HR and it shows. Everyone who runs the place is a scientist

    Pros

The GIS Coordinator is great -- not too hands off, but not a micro-manager either. The work was interesting. Interns get two weeks paid vacation.

    Cons

Pay was a bit low, no health care.

    Pros

Interesting projects in multiple watersheds and in several ecosystems across several western states, with plenty of design latitude, flexible hours, opportunities to travel often, and a good salary. Vacation time was generous, and the clients and partners were enthusiastic, appreciative, and always eager to build the program.

    Cons

There was a disconnect between employee capabilities and management's desire to reassign them, with too few opportunities to maximize one's contribution to the company. Increasingly, a tendency to hire and promote ex-government employees to leadership positions led to bureaucratic leadership procedures and a reduction in morale and organization vigor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the marketing team and strengthen the role of engineer leadership in project delivery.

    Pros

Employees and peers are top notch. Everyone there seems to be committed to the mission of wetlands conservation and going to work each day is a privilege. Benefits are very good, time off is about on par. All in all, one of the best nonprofits in the biz.

    Cons

Room for advancement is somewhat minimal. The organization seems to change directions regarding resource allocation and there are certain areas that are far more equipped (overstaffed) versus some areas that have massive expectations but are serially understaffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look inward and nurture youthful talent that is committed to the cause.

    Neutral Outlook
