Pros
Duff is a great place to better your skills and have your ideas heard. We have the ability to grow with the company.
Cons
The workload can often be too much. The distribution of work should be monitored more often to keep the workload balanced for each person/team.
Pros
Some interesting projects/clients - very rare though.
Cons
Internal politics.
Uninspiring senior management and MDs.
Pros
Employees are treatred and compensated very well. The atmosphere for a corporate culture is great; people are friendly and very approacable.
Cons
Someitmes I am over-worked, however this may be brought upon myself.
Advice to Senior Management
N/A
Pros
Great benefits
Intelligent experienced management
High end office spaces
Guaranteed pay and expense reimbursement with fair timing
Cons
Lack of adequate communication related to performance
Lack of follow up with individual employee issues
Lack of cross selling
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be more open to employees in order for them to understand
requirements related to their position
Pros
Duff & Phelps can be a good place to work. The business units do not work closely together though, so if the management in your group is weak, you will suffer.
Cons
Communication is lacking, many senior managing directors have recently moved on to other firms because Duff & Phelps does not put talent retention at the top of it's list.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more proactive about paying your people what they coudl earn in similar positions with other companies rather than assuming they will stay.
Pros
The company has lofty growth ambitions and can achieve what they want to do if they do it carefully and with the input of their most valuable asset - their people. The employees of D&P make it such a great place - very intelligent with the caliber of the Big Four or a bulge bracket IB, yet without the insane amount of bureaucracy. The practice leadership is approachable and for the most part, the Managing Directors care.
Cons
There can be a disconnect between the folks on the ground and the upper level executives. There needs to be more communication from the C-Suite down to the field so there does not seem like there is such a level of secrecy that is not needed.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate to your employees better, look to the Segment and Business Unit Leaders to learn how to do a better job, as they tend to have the respect of their people and can help you deliver messages.
Pros
Relatively laid back, friendly coworkers, decent health benefit options, great office location, happy hours, subsidized vending machine *hey- it's the little things*
Cons
Lower than average salaries, very bureaucratic given the smaller size, little growth potential for the staff, some have too much esponsibility and no accountability for some.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to keep the channels of communication open, and focus on the onboarding process for new hires. Focus on managing the expectations of the employee's.
Pros
Good access to clients who have come to trust D&P employees
Cons
Management has no real management experience and only manages to the numbers to satisfy stock analysts - will say anything to get the stock price up so they can cash out.
Advice to Senior Management
Try to actually care about the staff instead of yourselves.
Pros
Very knowledgeable people that want you to grow and do well in your career. It is a great learning environment and there is plenty of opportunity to succeed here.
Cons
Working in a small office (many of the offices are larger so this is a unique aspect). Very limited bonuses this year, but in the past have been good.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to be concerned about the growth of the employees and continue to grow the practice, giving thought to work life balance.
Pros
flexible schedule, lots of hours
Cons
low compensation, could really use more communication with employees
Advice to Senior Management
more compensation, more communication,
