    I worked at Duke University

    Pros

Duke is nice to work for if you are in a well-funded area. There are opportunities for professional growth and trying new things. The people are respectful and welcoming. West Campus is lovely to work on especially.

    Cons

The bureaucracy of a big organization is frustrating. From what I've learned from others who work there, so much of your experience depends on the people you report to. Some faculty are wonderful to work for, and some are terrible.

    Pros

it was great work life balance, smart people, nice people, a lot of resources, nice campus, great benefits, and a great reputation nationwide

    Cons

the pay is awful granted that cost of living is low, raises are always non existent, political stuff can also happen, who you know can matter. If you are young it can be hard to get to know people or a lot of people are married from young age.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be more transparent.

    Pros

The expectation is high here, but it is not cut throat type. You might produce more papers than you expect.
