I have been working at Dune Shoes part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The salary is pretty good for a retail position. People are generally friendly and try to recognize good work with incentives and rewards.

    Cons

Management can be unorganized and hypocritical. Many of the shoe styles are not very fashionable for a New York market.

    Advice to Management

There should be more normality in the schedules. It can be hard to plan around this job, not because you have too many hours but because you aren't sure when they'll be and get very little heads up.

    Pros

Free work shoes to the value of £60 / commission on bags and purses if monthly store target is made / friendly staff

    Cons

Workload is constant running up and down stairs /management is very poor / getting humiliated on the shop floor if a task is not done up to scratch or wrong shoes brought down / radios

    Advice to Management

Increase hourly pay, treat your staff the same way you would to customers, be approachable and be organised! Value your staff

    Pros

60% discount on Dune shoes and accessories Sample sales every season Surrounded by product in the office-brings work to life Recognised brand

    Cons

Very low wages-no negotiation £18k for MAA/ Allocator Office politics is rife! If you are not loud, ballsy, love drinking to excess, Caucasian-generally then good luck fitting in Head Office is just off Edgware Road- smelly, dirty area-not very fashion or nice Head Office is very old and falling apart-the toilets were blocked and leaking every other week Computer systems are very old -crash every Monday for trade :) Progression is based on whether you 'fit' in

    Advice to Management

Recruit a diversity of people in the Head Office and pay a better wage to get a better quality of staff. Upgrade the IT systems and refurbish the HO-it's a mess.

  9. Helpful (2)

Not great! They say that staff have excellent progression opportunities but in reality they make it difficult

I worked at Dune Shoes as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues were very friendly. Benefits are "okay", free work shoes with an extra pair per quarter. If you are a woman, you'll enjoy the benefits. Flexible Hours If you enjoy providing Customer Satisfaction you'll enjoy this type of work.

    Cons

Far too intense with unrealistic daily selling targets. What would be impossible for you, is "do-able" for management. Management can be very patronizing. Not a male friendly environment. Sales incentives are badly organised with minimal pay rises, the starting pay is really really low.

    Advice to Management

Go through all the features and benefits of every product with a new start. Be more organised with sales incentives which should actually an assessment of the employees work, then go over it with them. Rather than taking one aside and telling them what they should do better. Pay attention to your employee satisfaction, not just customer satisfaction.
