Pros
Personally I loved my co-workers and direct supervisor. This is a company that has potential for growth and tries to utilize the special abilities of their employees to do so.
Cons
As in most companies, there is a point where employees get to that does not allow for further growth. Personally I believe that departments do not utilize each other properly to better themselves.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication is key. Without talking to not just other department heads, but the employees, you are not receiving the proper feedback for improvement.
Pros
-The people
-Half day Fridays year round
-Excellent work life balance
Cons
-No Room for advancement
-Terrible pay
-frequent layoffs though small they happen quite a lot
-Like most companies this one is a boys club
Advice to Senior Management
Work on creating opportunities for the internal employees
Pros
good people, fun atmosphere, early release fridays
Cons
no career advancement possible
HR department is totally inept, sanctimonious, all controlling
pay is a joke compared to my peers
HR doesn not take complaints about comp seriously they always say we'll take care of you down the road which is total bs
Advice to Senior Management
you need to get yourself a real HR department not a franchisee training department. get them to work like the rest of us. try to wrestle away some of what they control
Pros
very easy job, most of the employees & customers are great.
Cons
The franchise I worked for named Cafua management company is horrible. Above store leadership isn't very helpful.
Advice to Senior Management
Don,t lie to employees about promotions to keep them there.
Pros
-Great brand and prestige in the Northeast
-Good products and reputation amongst consumers in local markets, but the brand is misunderstood nationally
-Great access to tickets to sporting events
Cons
-Owned by VC companies, and they come first, so don't expect high compensation in terms of salary and bonuses.
-Revolving door of management, with little continuity of leadership
-A corporate culture that thrives on the using the fear of being fired, especially at the middle management level, to compensate for a lack of other types of compensation
-Career advancement only happens at the Executive level, so don't expect career advancement unless you are a Director or above...
Advice to Senior Management
I worked at Dunkin' Brands for many years, and my overall take is that the compensation is sub-par to the industry, your work life balance is completely out of whack when you work for the company, and the only motivation that is promoted there is to make as much money as you can for VC firms. If I were in DB's Sr. Management team, I would focus on changing the corporate culture into fostering some long term talent, rather than reaping whatever you can in the present.
Pros
Free food/ free coffee. While there is almost no training whatsoever, the work is pretty easy to pick up on. Also it can be exciting if you like fast paced work. My manager is very hard working and she works alongside everybody else, often harder then they are.
Cons
It can be very stressful, especially if you've never worked in fast food before. If you can't do mornings, then don't expect enough hours to make a decent paycheck. Management is pretty disorganized. Expect to have your boss call you at 6am and ask you to come in on your days off.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on how well the donuts are monitored. Working there, I've noticed every single day that the old fashioned donuts run out before 10am and we get a lot of complaints.
Pros
Excellent support, good work/life balance
Cons
Ridiculous annual review policies. Need better cross functional communication.
Pros
Fun place to work, you get good tips.
Cons
If not enough employees are working, you are subjected to very difficult multi-tasking.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep at LEAST 3 employees working at once.
Pros
Co-workers are friendly and hardworking
Gym facilities in the building
Limited Micro-managment
Dunkin Cafe and Baskin ice cream shop on site for unlimited consumption off food and beverage
Early release on Fridays
Casual Fridays
Cons
Lots of work
Stressful Problem Solving
Commute time
Corporate
Pros
The discount, honestly. And the direct contact with the customers, I love working with the general public unlike most people.
Cons
Just about everything else. Maybe because I was working with first time owners they were extremely hardcore about following the rules....but they never followed the rules themselves. In the beginning the hours were awesome we were averaging 55 hours a week, then they dropped down to 20, just to go back up to 40 where it stayed until I left. The I-training took up a large portion of our time and caused us to always get backed up around that time. The way my particular managers chose employee of the month on favoritism, instead of the actual hard work put in, and the lack of flexibility in scheduling.
Advice to Senior Management
Please get rid of the I-trains, they take up too much time, I'm sure if theyre done properly they might be ok.
