    Pros

Smart and friendly people. Interesting work and an amazing work/life balance, but could really use some work to make sure people are communicating across business lines.

    Cons

It can be difficult to manage multiple projects across multiple stakeholders while still getty the BAU work done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to foster more innovation by examining the way other companies do it.

    Data Analyst Intern

I have been working at Dunnhumby usa as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The work was not just busy work but challenging and interesting assignments. Dunnhumby and your supervisors genuinely cared about your results and solutions found throughout the internship. There was a good work and fun balance with many intern trips and activities provided throughout the summer. There was structured feedback of your performance throughout the summer.

    Cons

The work was challenging at times but many employees were willing to work with the interns to discuss how to solve problems and challenges the occurred throughout the analysis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The feedback on performance was one of the most impressive and beneficial aspects of the internship.

I have been working at Dunnhumby usa as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

It is challenging & you learn a ton. Collaborative work is encouraged, and creative ideas are welcomed. You are not micro-managed, but trusted with exciting projects and important data.

    Cons

You have to be the right type of person for the role. Granted, the selective interview process does a great job of filtering these people, but it is not perfect. If you aren't interested in customer behavior or have trouble thinking out of the box, you may struggle at dunnhumby.

I have been working at Dunnhumby usa as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

An excellent and collaborative company culture.

Very smart people constantly working on exciting and innovative projects.

The internship was extremely well-run from an HR standpoint. Everything is taken care of (housing, training, projects, etc.) so that the focus can be on learning and delivering results.

A very young company with fun and interesting people who also work hard. The work hard play hard mentality is a staple at dh.

Unlike many internships, the interns are given one project to complete from start to finish and deliver results to company executives and clients.

    Good pay.

    Cons

Because of the project structure that is somewhat randomly assigned, getting stuck with a bad project could lead to a difficult experience.

By nature of the internship, the short time frame makes it hard to do the project as completely as a full-time employee might. This can lead to a lot of grey area when it comes to project scope.

The internship is publicly advertised as a "summer-long job interview" so there is a good deal of pressure if you are not very competitive by nature.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to make a more equitable and clearly-defined project system for the interns.

    Pros

    Really committed to company values
    Young company
    Easy accessibility to upper management
Collaborative rather than competitive within company
5 wks vacation for all level employees

    Cons

Less privacy without any walls and the open air policy with desks

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep true to the company values, because that's what really sets you apart culturally from anywhere else I've looked

    Cons

Limited opportunity for growth at a certain level.

  11.

Good place to start your career, but not the place to be if you want to make an impact at mid to senior level

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Cincinnati, OH

I have been working at Dunnhumby usa full-time

    Pros

    Vibrant culture; very social
Competitive salary, company-wide bonus programs and top-notch benefits, including 5 weeks of vacation for even the newest employee
Opportunity for a new grad to get exposure and make an impact

    Cons

Opportunities decrease and influence wanes for more tenured employees; even those hired in with fresh ideas
Despite its egalitarian culture, power & control exists in silos; decision making is confined to most senior levels and takes far too long to come to fruition.
Claims to encourage innovation, but contrarian ideas are difficult to sell in. Stuck in "business as usual" mode

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push decision making deeper into organization. Give managers the opportunity to develop and influence strategy and budgets. Leverage individual expertise to fuel disruptive innovation
