Pros
fairly good work environment, flexible working schedule, supports balancing of work and life, values employees' safety, the pay is fair.
Cons
people tend to exaggerate the company's core value which is safety. the management is very stereotyped, communication is not enough.
Advice to Senior Management
do not focus more than what is necessary on Safety issue. should make more effort on improving employees' working efficiency.
Pros
Good hard working people that cared about their jobs and the businesses they represented
Cons
Senior Leadership was out of touch and didn't practice what they preached. Marketing is lacking at the leadership level. Great brands that die off due to incompetence in Business Unit Leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand who you promote into leadership. If you believe in your core values, you need to do more than give it lip service. Stop downsizing the right people due to inept leadership and tring to be politically correct.
Pros
Support of personal and professional development activities.
Work life balance needs.
High ethical standards.
Cons
Slow to get anything done.
Poor habits hard to break.
Advice to Senior Management
Support initiatives through to the end.
Pros
Great benefits, connections, work/life balance
Cons
The employees are older and the knowledge slightly outdated
Pros
work life balance
respect of people
Cons
indirect and vague feedback
slow pace
Advice to Senior Management
management can increase the effecacy by providing more direct and constructive feedback
Pros
Excellent ethics and integrity go through the company, underlined by core values especially safety. Good work-life balance though getting tougher as we are leaner, common across corporations these days.
Cons
Can be slow/difficult to drive change. The strength is working with teams and getting input on change, but some things have to be driven to be competitive. Need to ensure we keep valuing the technologies and experts who helped make the company what it is.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to remember to keep developing people even as competition has intensified. Fewer development opportunities than in the past and these are needed for the long term.
Pros
Work life balance is excellent. Core values are safety, respect for others. Lots of opportunity for advancement. People are respectful.
Cons
Corporate environment, difficult to get things done quickly. Employees are now doing jobs of 3 employees. Managers and employees are so multi-task oriented that projects are not done well with enough attention to detail.
Advice to Senior Management
Let employees focus on fewer projects, instead of being multi-task oriented. Overall, Dupont is a great place to work. Work / life balance is excellent.
Pros
Stability, good work life balance, respect for people is a core value and they back it up. Trying to be a very green and enviromentally responsible company, Average salary and health care, can find lots of better options though, great 401k matching (9%) but no more pension.
Cons
Poor balancing of work load to resources, tough place to get fired from (not a good thing, too many poor performers), current CEO very cost sensitive (i.e. cheap), asked employees to take up to 2 weeks of unpaid vacation in 2009 when the company made $2B+ profit. No perks of working for a large company like travel, fitness facilities, ability to attend training & conferences, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Why do you continue to fail to retain young talent when you face a US work force with an average age in their 50's?
Pros
A wide array of projects in all areas of science are potentially available. Family friendly working environment.
Cons
Starting pay is not very high, and it never gets better than average throughout the career.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be an event better company to work for if it paid 10% more.
Pros
Has a diverse product base in over 77 countries. There are opportunities to have lots of different jobs if you can get those doors to be opened up.
Cons
It's too large and slow to adapt to new changes. Difficult to get exposure to corporate strategy for plant employees. Difficult for plant employees to be considered for corporate jobs.
Advice to Senior Management
Work harder to develop your people. Hire more MBA's, don't let engineers do everything without requiring them to get MBA's or the proper training for non-engineering jobs.
