    Pros

Salary and Benefits are very reasonable

    Cons

Worst manager you can ever wish for! Lot of sneakiness and passing accountability together with not being truthful.

Very late nights and long weekends together with a very obnoxious boss who calls your home at all hours including weekends and gives out abuse. Even if your wife answers, no respect is shown!

    Pros

Friendly and non-competitive at the lower level. People did their work and mind their business. There has been a major change in management. At one point, one VP pretty much ran the whole operations area and he was totally out of touch with how the departments actually worked. Over the last few years, E*Trade has brought in a much better management team with professionals from some major companies. You can slowly see the changes for the better.

    Cons

Little chance for advancement at the lower level. Salary is consistent meaning no big raises.

    Advice to Management

Have the different departments cross train with each other and I mean really sit down and work in that area for a period of time. At one point, E*Trade made the different departments within Operations present their business during lunch. I believe it was called, Lunch & Learn. This was a complete waste of time and people attended due to pressure from management. Nobody actually listen or retain information.

    Pros

experience within the financial industry and opportunities to get finra licenses

    Cons

not a drug free environment, lots of nepotism, gender and cultural discrimination, minimum educ requisite is high school diploma, salary is meager and bonus is "discretionary" but management will create loopholes to give you none

    Pros

Very intelligent upper and middle management. E*trade has done a solid job of bringing on board top talent from other firms. They are also striving to be competitive and transform the company. Everyone at home-office level cares deeply for the success of the company.

    Cons

Unless you are in the tech or software side of the business, working at Etrade is more like working at a top-tier bank but with less pay, more frustration over lack of resources, and less opportunities.
    -Very long hours, little flexibility.
    - Pushing managers to give low reviews to employees. Promotions are almost impossible to secure in some teams. Structure set up for very low morale and will likely result in frustrated employees seeking opportunities elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Improve work-life balance, encourage more flexibility such remote work in HQ and home-offices; encourage positive peer and managerial feedback, as opposed to the opposite; restructure advancement process and ensure that all teams are given the opportunity to promote equally. Getting E*Trade to the next level does not require sacrificing employee happiness in the process.

    Pros

The pay was decent initially however after working with another manager but total compensation went down due to lack of bonus.

Make sure to interview them because this went from being the greatest place to work to my worst nightmare in a matter of months.

    Cons

Lack of management training for the long term Etrade employees. Try to work for some who is newer to Etrade.

    Advice to Management

I hear you are doing a great job since I left and that makes me happy to hear. Try to pay more attention to middle management training.

    Pros

Upper management is trying to turn the tech side around and have introduced a number of process improvements to help make things more transparent. There is a move to upgrade the technology and its infrastructure. Considering the all new executive suite, it will be some time before the success of this undertaking can be evaluated.

    Cons

Mediocre salary. High stress levels. Not much room for advancement unless you are more into game playing than actual innovation and accomplishment. Technology dating back to the 90's and unlikely to change very quickly. Working level leadership is more interested in empire building than building the company. At present, the process that has been implemented is all show and no substance.

    Advice to Management

It would help to translate the advertised company values into something real instead of relying on an obsolete management style based on bullying. Good upper management intentions are usually frustrated by a lack of follow through. The middle-management bureaucracy somehow manages to protect it's domain, and give the appearance of acting without really taking the process improvements to heart.
