    Pros

Like many places, ETrade has some wonderful people working for it. In general the atmosphere is relaxed except for those who ...

    Cons

must report to key individuals who have no business being in positions of authority in particular domains. As such, the UX group, in its infancy at the time, reported under the Operations group who, by nature, are reactive and showed no appreciation or willingness to understand the need for UX to research and plan strategy. As a result, much stress endued not only for UX but for product management as well.

    Advice to Management

It may have been done by now, but UX does not belong inside an operations group, a cadre responding to client complaints and reporting on operational metrics.

    Pros

No pros, because this is a bad company to work for. They treat people like trash once they are done with you. Doesn't live up to their compromise.

    Cons

Worse place to work! Lots of politics. Management doesn't want to take ownership of responsibility. Very unprofessional higher management! If they are done with what they need form you, they will throw you out the curb.

    Advice to Management

Learn to have some breeding and be fair to your employers.

    Pros

Decent Pay, decent hours pending the team

    Cons

STAY AWAY! Management changes directions constantly. This comes from lots of turnover -- CMO left, SVPs left, VPs left. Constant meetings from CFO asking people not to leave, after announcements that people are leaving. No advancement and constant restructuring. During my time there they fired 10 people and took months to replace them due to restructure.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like they are trash. Need to staff properly

    Pros

Job is pretty simple and not too demanding. Great area to work in Jersey City other departments friendly

    Cons

Divided work environment based off of favoritism and lead analyst lacks people skills which prevents training

    Pros

Salary and Benefits are very reasonable

    Cons

Worst manager you can ever wish for! Lot of sneakiness and passing accountability together with not being truthful. Very late nights and long weekends together with a very obnoxious boss who calls your home at all hours including weekends and gives out abuse. Even if your wife answers, no respect is shown!

    Pros

Friendly and non-competitive at the lower level. People did their work and mind their business. There has been a major change in management. At one point, one VP pretty much ran the whole operations area and he was totally out of touch with how the departments actually worked. Over the last few years, E*Trade has brought in a much better management team with professionals from some major companies. You can slowly see the changes for the better.

    Cons

Little chance for advancement at the lower level. Salary is consistent meaning no big raises.

    Advice to Management

Have the different departments cross train with each other and I mean really sit down and work in that area for a period of time. At one point, E*Trade made the different departments within Operations present their business during lunch. I believe it was called, Lunch & Learn. This was a complete waste of time and people attended due to pressure from management. Nobody actually listen or retain information.

    Pros

experience within the financial industry and opportunities to get finra licenses

    Cons

not a drug free environment, lots of nepotism, gender and cultural discrimination, minimum educ requisite is high school diploma, salary is meager and bonus is "discretionary" but management will create loopholes to give you none
