    I worked at E. & J. Gallo full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Free two cases of wine every month. Very tight knit community of employees. Privately held company. Strong and effective management team. Union environment that works the way it is supposed to.

    Cons

We did 50% of our business 4th quarter. "Merry Christmas" takes on a whole new meaning. Strongly managed company means you hade better produce A++ results 100% of the time .. is that really such a bad thing ?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rest in Peace Ernest and Julio.

    I have been working at E. & J. Gallo full-time

    Pros

Great people who are like-minded, fun and motivated. Promotion is from within, so work hard and you will go places!

    Cons

Long hours but worth it in the long run. Some parts of the job are not ideal but it is entry level, which is expected in most entry level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are going

I have been working at E. & J. Gallo full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Of all of the largest alcohol producers, E&J Gallo is one of the last that is Family Owned. This is one of the things that the company takes pride in and in my experience they treat all of the employees like they are family.

    Cons

I think one of the major cons is that if you want to move up in the company to the highest reaches, you have to spend some time working in Modesto, California. This is one of the worst places in the country to live or visit.

    Pros

High growth potential and great stability. Challenges when you need them. A great deal of flexibility in work, except during harvest.

    Cons

Must be a people person. You need to fit into conservative personality style. Can be a bit too relaxed at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The changes over the past five to six years has made a great improvement to the company.

    I worked at E. & J. Gallo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company's wine has the best reputation for retailers. The people they hire are great and supportive.

    Cons

Solitary work - you never see most of your coworkers. Case goals were aggressively unrealistic.

    I worked at E. & J. Gallo part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay, if you can strike a chord with employment panel, you can some pretty good money for work that isn't terrible.

    Cons

Big rift between the 600 Yosemite bottling plant and the 200 Yosemite bottling plant. Job culture I guess, but it was hindering in some aspects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your employees. The buddy system is a bit too prevalent in the Gallo culture.
