I have been working at ECPI College of Technology part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Easy classes, easy courses. Good colleagues

    Cons

Management has no idea how to run a company. They are looking at quantity rather than quality. The unhappiest place I've ever worked at. Management has not credential and idea what they're doing. Some of the ways they treat faculty are simply funny. This place will not last, things are about to come out. People are talking. It is run like a slave chain. Favoritism, exploitation, manipulation, mixed messages, and passive aggressiveness is beyond measure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please know that people are very unhappy with you. Just because you are forcing them to keep quiet does not mean that things will not come out.

I have been working at ECPI College of Technology full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is competitive, and achievement is rewarded. The college invests in technologies and classroom resources pushing us to help our students. Clearly this college is admitting better students. They are mature and prepared to work hard for their success. I'll take that over aptitude any day.

    Cons

The classroom pace is fast, but it does seem that students stay engaged better that way as procrastination will lead to failure.

I worked at ECPI College of Technology full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    They had some good, professional
faculties and staff members. However, they disappear
     one by one.

    Cons

Main campus Management is incompetent, at least.
Virginia Beach campus president and his
team had very little to offer to the company
operations and nothing to the quality of
    student education or employees.

They had no idea what they are doing
or how to manage educated people- employees.

No any form of recognition or appreciation for
educators. Benefits are minimal. All employees
( except corporate) are exploited and overworked.
     Working environment is hostile. Favoritism,
low moral and luck of ethics are a norm.
    Bullying, harassment, discrimination of minorities,
women and bias to the Republican Party are obvious.

About education provided. For profit education is just a
great way to redirect funds from
governmental resources to the corporate accounts.
No real, quality education is provided in the
super speedy profit generation machine for
5 weeks of term study and going from" zero to
Bachelor for 2.5 years". It is inflation of education
     and degrees printing machine.

The work of this "educational" institution needs
to be carefully evaluated by Department of
Education. Probably, this company still could
exist, but only , if they offer the Associate degrees
    and nothing else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire specialists, educated professionals with human
faces as managers. Fire current, incompetent
team of professional managerial bullies, who occupied
    the Virginia Beach campus.

    Improve working conditions and company
    current unprofessional corporate culture and
    moral.
Discrimination practice based on political differences,
Gender, national origins must be eliminated.

Company organizational structure has to be
changed: campus president must have a terminal
Degree and have at least two provosts. One
needs to be in charge for academic tasks and
another one should manage daily operations, staff
and serve the needs of educators and students.

To improve the company image, it will need to
offer the only Associate degrees for 11-12 weeks
    per term/ semester.

I have been working at ECPI College of Technology full-time

    Pros

Some of the students you work with are really grateful for the help

    Cons

This school is always behind the curve in technology and resources for students, and never ending power struggles prevent real progress. The accelerated pace puts a huge strain on every department and sick/vacation time is inadequate considering the year round high levels of stress. No one loves working here. Do not apply if you expect appreciation, recognition, or opportunities for advancement. Many people stay only because their self-esteem gets beaten down so low that they feel like they will never be able to get hired anywhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of just making it up as you go along, really listen to your employees. They are doing the front line work and may actually have some good ideas.

I have been working at ECPI College of Technology part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great dedication to helping students gain real skills that will get them real jobs.
A sense of a "shared" mission to help students better themselves.

    Cons

Dealing with outsiders who assume all for-profit schools are the same. ECPI University has high standards .Some people come here with the wrong attitude and then get all negative when it doesn't work out. Most of the people I work with are happy and dedicated.

I worked at ECPI College of Technology part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The people that work there are great! Everyone is friendly, including most of the students. You have freedom to run your classroom however you want.

    Cons

No benefits and very low pay.
Have to teach 5 hours of lecture several times a week for the same class. The students have a hard time grasping complex subjects because there is no time to study after class is over.
I was hired and had to start teaching a week later, the laboratory supplies had not arrived yet- and I was told that I had to figure out my own way to teach labs. I ended up buying my own supplies, and submitting receipts for reimbursement (which I never received).
I did not get an e-mail or computer account until the end of the first term that I was teaching (each term is 5 weeks, so it goes by very fast).
The main office in Virginia Beach is the only one that can create your computer/ e-mail/ moodle accounts. There is no way to get it expedited.

    Pros

full-time instructorship with master's degree, no classes on Friday... that's about it! I had some hard-working students who I felt sorry for because the programs were so bad.

    Cons

long/late hours, admin reps lie to students, poor compensation, upper admin has no understanding of higher education, no room for development, outdated/broken equipment, micro-management, no support of faculty, enormous grade inflation, lapsing accreditation, dishonesty in upper admin...

    Pros

Flexibility: instructors are free to teach from just about any materials they like. It's a place to get some teaching experience.

    Cons

AT the time, the college offered to teach 1st and 2nd year classes only.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
