    I worked at ECS Refining

    Pros

    Integrity and competence of owners Jim and Ken Taggart; good industry reputation in an industry full of bad reputations; respectable; good at core business; company genuinely tries to do the right thing

    Cons

    no management feedback; top heavy management; inflexible on both employee issues and customer issues;some processes do not live up to management claims;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    go back to being ECS and stop being ASL; promote some younger employees while gently retiring senior management; don't be greedy in glass business; Ecollective name is weak;

    I have been working at ECS Refining

    Pros

    Some good camaraderie, lots of friendships in the lower ranks

    Cons

    Archaic management style throughout the company, no training, no internal advancement opportunities for typical employees, "save a penny, lose a pound" is the company motto, testosterone-heavy pissing contests stifle innovation, little to no employee appreciation. Two-year long salary freeze explained by saying simply, "It's an employers' job market right now"

    I worked at ECS Refining

    Pros

    Nice hard working employees, great place to work if you want to see how things are done the wrong way.

    Cons

    Management are full of old timers with no education background. Office areas are horrible, seeing mice running around is nothing unusual here. This company is just plain too cheap to care.

    The company does nothing to motivate employees what so ever, no bonus, no raises, or even company events. It is sad because ECS has great workers who can do better elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Look into how other companies are handling things. This is not the 1980s anymore. Give back a little to employees.
