    I worked at ED&F Man

    Pros

Good company, alot of autonomy and they treat their people well.

    Cons

Conservative strategies that tend to stay exclusively in existing businesses rather than investigate other opportunities. This can be both good and bad, but sometimes it is too limiting.

I have been working at ED&F Man full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits, location and hours of operation.

    Cons

Man isn't what Edward or Fredrick envision. When Man was created, they believed in their employees and they always came first. Anyone who truly knew the Founding Fathers would have kept the tradition. First came the employee, before money and this is why it was so successful all the way around years ago.

Management today has little to no knowledge of the day to day business, its more of a wing it situation. Key point personnel that hold the title of management, has totally no clue of what or how to run their department.

There is a major financial impact; due to employee's lack of due diligence, but this derives from lazy managers who do not get involved in the business.

I’ve been with Man for the past 4 years, I have witnessed lazy managers, lazy employees, employees that don’t care and still on board, and accountability of errors not taken serious.

We even have a new H.R. in place; since this happened thing’s have gotten worse. H.R. in the Miami office looks the other way and fails to truly get involve in any internal matters.

You are basically on your own. No one trusts H.R., I wouldn't it and I have a million one complaints. I need my job and I can’t afford to make waves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advise to London, they really need to listen to their employee's plead, your current & past employees.

Those who are here are because we need a job, those who are not are the lucky one's who got out just in time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee feedback is very important. Institute a review system for employees to review their managers as other companies have.

I have been working at ED&F Man full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I like the intimate feel of teh comapny, it is still small enough to know all the main players and yet is a major global player in Commodities and Capital Markets. The people have been great and easy to work with, very friendly atmosphere. Seniro managers really know tehir stuff and inspire confidence. Compared to other companies I have worked for Man is fast to respond and to make decisions. Financial growth has been impresive while I ahve been here.

    Cons

Can be rather unstructured and light on processes and policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to keep the culture the same as you grow.

    Cons

The company doesn't invest on developing talent...they have an use and dispose mentality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the CEO and the upper management Corporate team in London. They only look into their own self interest to the expense of the future of the company.

I have been working at ED&F Man

    Pros

News that a minority investor is very well received by the market and is a huge vote of confidence in the Group.
It is clear there are significant changes in leadership particularly HR, Finance and IT with big investments in systems and people.
Some of the businesses are doing extremely well and have attracted a lot of strong talent.

    Cons

Room for improvement in communications, still too secretive as a company

Some people have been arouind a long time and don't like to change habits of a life time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communications and openness with employees
