Former Employee – worked at EFI full-time
Pros – I am well paid for my position, have a career that is bot challenging and rewarding. Good benefits. Company puts your family first on many issues.
Cons – Sometimes goals and priorities change a little too quickly. More would get done if people were allowed to finish one project before starting another. And of course outsourcing.
Advice to Senior Management – Please remember that while soft costs do not fit into a spreadsheet, there are some softcosts associated with outsourcing that may exceed the benefit.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at EFI full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – great people, nice bldg, great view, stock slowly climbing up
Cons – no reward for work, record profits but yet everyone has to tighten belt, bonuses are a joke
Advice to Senior Management – give some incentive stock or a bonus that really is a bonus
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros – The flexible work schedule is great. Co-workers are a high point of this job and company. Select managers are willing to mentor those below them.
Cons – Little room for advancement. Priorities that change abruptly and randomly. A great deal of organizational changes in a short period of time. Severe cost-cutting and off-shoring is reducing morale in the US.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate a complete vision down the ranks and try to eliminate moving targets. Be realistic about the benefits of offshoring versus the costs, both tangible and intangible. Provide your top performers a path to advancement and reward them appropriately.

Former Employee – worked at EFI full-time for more than a year
Pros – You will learn first hand what you don't want your future employers to be. A bad experience is always a learning experience.
Cons – Employees are not valued in this company. Everything is about making the Execs richer at the expense of the employees.
Advice to Senior Management – There's nothing I can say to these people that hasn't been said yet.

Current Employee – been working at EFI full-time
Pros – The benefits package is great. The employees are awesome. Having a flexible work schedule is a bonus.
Cons – Salaries are below market. The shareholders come first, the employees come second. Constantly changing priorities lead to frustrated employees feeling a lack of accomplishment. Too many meetings (yes, this company has meetings to discuss having meetings). The review process is meaningless. Goals are established which are impossible to measure.
Advice to Senior Management – Take care of your dedicated employees. Stop losing good talent. Establish a plan and stick to it.

Pros – Great company to work for. Absolutely no heirachy in this company.. anyone can call and talk to the CEO. It's all about creating the premier product and services for the industry which makes it a fun and innovative place to work.
Cons – the lack of formality can create some confusion and lack of clarity.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the great work! Communicate, communicate, communicate!

Current Employee – been working at EFI full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great location (but moving soon)
Good people (many of which have gone elsewhere since the current brain trust took over)
Cons – Cheap with money for R&D
They don't care about the good people
POOR business decisions hurt bottomline
Spending too much on acquisitions with bad return
No idea where they are heading
Advice to Senior Management – Get back to what EFI does well.
Value your employees more
Spend your money more wisely
Upper management needs to get more in touch with what the people they "lead" actually do.

Current Employee – been working at EFI full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – There is a very talented engineering staff, and lots of great people in all departments. Working on the right team can be very rewarding. The product line is growing and the core technology is adopting to the changes in the print industry.
Cons – Too many meetings, too many progress reports, and meetings about progress reports. And meetings about meetings.
The products I work on take unnecessary complexity, instead of having the design team work on making easy to use. The goal is to beat the competition by creating feature rich products.
Advice to Senior Management – Since change is the only constant there isn't much to say that can last.

Former Employee – worked at EFI full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Good location, but, as some, or already most of the people know, they are selling the building in Foster City. I guess, like most reviewers on here, I would say that the location is the only pro about this place.
Cons – If you're not looking forward to grow as an engineer and be up to date with current technologies, do not work at EFI. The technology that the company uses is outdated, and due to its size, change happens very slowly.
Maybe if you're a fresh college graduate and fall into the right team, it might be a good place to start your career. Make sure to ask at the interview exactly what will you be working on and exactly how much code you are going to write. Most of the jobs are maintenance jobs where you're stuck at bug fixing forever. Avoid those positions at EFI.
Do not expect to get raises. Be smart, and negotiate your most desired salary during the offer. Do not get fooled and expect that you are going to go in there, prove yourself and get promoted. You will prove yourself and get promoted, its just that the promotion will not be reflected on your salary much.
Advice to Senior Management – I wouldn't really give any advice to management. They know what is going on and if they want to, they can change it. The thing is that change comes with cost. The company is trying to save money in every way it can.

Former Employee – worked at EFI full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Quality product line, exciting industry
Cons – no accountability, minimal leadership and zero direction.
Advice to Senior Management – Backfill necessary roles so you don't leave your team so filled with holes that you spend more time trying to "plug the dam" then running your business
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
