    Pros

Knowledgable management who help employees to grow, both personally and professionally. Great corporate culture of SPRINTers.

    Cons

Long commute since move to Fremont. Commitments to delivery/target dates are often overlooked, and projects get extended longer than necessary.

    Advice to Management

Provide greater opportunities for those outside of Sales to learn about the products, and to see the business as a whole - rather than by function/business unit.

    Pros

Flexible Work Schedule Work with good friends The sales team are rock stars! The people that do actually work, kill themselves for this company.

    Cons

Where should I start? If you are a software engineer in the U.S. do not think of going to work at EFI. The company is in the process of moving all of the development jobs to India. If you do take a software development position you will spent the majority of your time helping with customer issues and fixing defects. Almost every bit of new software development occurs in India. The teams do not work together. There is very little communication between the teams from different products. There is also very little communication between the teams in the U.S. and in India. There is virtually no cooperation which is one of the biggest issues this company faces. The only way the company grows is by acquiring other companies. EFI has almost no organic growth. This would explain why such highly talented people were let go in the latest round of cuts. The company has a SPRINT motto but this is lip service and means nothing to the management team. It is all about maximizing the profits, even if they have to cut good people to do it. After a company has been acquired it is a mad scramble to try and figure out how to get it integrated with the other products. There is no plan put into place or a series of well defined steps that occur when a new company is acquired. This in turn throws all schedules out the window for the year. Hey management, learn how to prioritize. The pay is well below the industry averages. Maybe the managers and directors get paid well but everyone else gets paid well below the market value. Be sure to check the industry averages before you think about coming to work at EFI. And the raises are not worth sticking around either. Averaging 1% a year is not even keeping up with the cost of living. You work your butt off for a 1% raise? Are you kidding? Company touts they have the best talent but that is a farce. The best talent doesn't hang around doing the petty tasks that are assigned to them. No, they leave and take their talents somewhere that will be appreciated. Then the company doesn't fill those positions, leaving the people that are left behind to work even harder to do their job while also trying to support the customer base. The quality of software being written continues to get worse and worse, which shouldn't be shocking since all of the best people leave. This means more and more customer issues with every release and less satisfied customers. More time spent dealing with fixing the issues and not writing new software. Developers need to do a better job of making sure the code they write functions correctly and Q/A needs to ensure that what is being developed works.

    Advice to Management

Do yourself a favor and start cleaning house of many of your managers. EFI allows managers and directors to stick around when they have no purpose within the company. Try letting some of them go in the next round of cuts and quit cutting the people that do all of the actual work. Perhaps get rid of some of the managers and replace them with people that have vision and drive. Start treating your employees with respect. Many of the offices around the U.S. never see the CEO. He only travels to the offices that he deems worthy of showing up to. It makes employees feel like they have been forgotten by the executives. Start giving the employees in the U.S. a path to be promoted. Why would you think you can get the best talent and then squash them by keeping them stuck in the same roll year after year with no chance of advancement? This is ludicrous and it needs to stop.

    Cons

Good old boys network has bought the company to it's knees. In Chapter 11. Those at the top are simply stuffing their pockets with what cash is left and waiting for chapter 7.

    Advice to Management

You should all quit in shame.

    Advice to Management

Work on employee development and career path. Employees are what make a good company great and they should be happy in their work environment. HR was non responsive to several issues that took place the time I was there. They sat while things got worse and did not take action.

    I worked at EFI full-time

    Pros

Innovative digital printing presses and ink, flexible hours. Assorted versions of presses on site to design, test, and develop on. Ink development labs on site.

    Cons

Ink manufacturing in the same building as engineering. Management turnover with reorganization. Very little career advancement opportunity. Too many instances where co-workers setup other coworkers to fail in order to hide difficulty their experiencing and move the delay in delivery timeline off to another individual or group.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the internal sabatours. Beware of nay sayers as to their motivation. Those who say something 'negative' because it's based in reality, want to address the issues, move forward, support the making of a better product and speak publicly versus the non-public, it's not going to work, because I don't understand it, it's too difficult for me to do, I can't be wrong, where an individual's personal limits, insecurity, and inflexible prevent team organizational change and growth. There are far too many in the lowest engineering through mid management level where interest of the 'I' is the most important.
