    Pros

    Pros:
India COE is expanding and is getting good development work
Good work culture and great people
Great chance of working with international teams
    Good management

    Cons

    The cons are:
The kind of work assigned varies vastly team to team
A lot of teams work on testing
The development work and product ownership is just starting

    Advice to Management

Great management. As an intern, not possible to comment on salary structures and benefits. However, a little more focus on good in-house development instead of mere acquisitions would go a long way.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    -Good brand name
-Nice environment as a company *
-Flexible work hours / can work from home occasionally
-Benefits such as health checkups, tie-ups with well known hospitals, rewards and recognitions
-Free coupons once in an year if you want to take up EMC certification exams
-A place to be for managers or if you moved to India from the US
-This should probably be your 2nd or 3rd company to work with **
-If you are pally-pally with the manager, you may get good amount of restricted stock options

    * Experiences my vary across business units
** If this is your first company and you get into a crappy product line, your career is ruined. Get out as soon as you can.

    Cons

-Growth prospects are no good. You pretty much get stuck with one product
-Too many org changes and layoffs especially in the RSA, ASD/ETD business units
-Internal moves is a big no *
-No promotions. Managers always cooking up stories to not promote people **
-Hikes don't even match current inflation
-HR is a pain in the a##
    -Very bad employee retention policies

    * Management/HR is two-faced in this matter
** If you put up a white paper, management says did you file a patent. If you file a patent, management says is the patent granted. If the patent is granted, management says is it in the product. If you want to make it part of the product, management says its not related to the product road-map. Be sensible people, not childish.

    Advice to Management

-Bring quality innovation in your products *
-Don't pay freshers more than what senior ICs are getting. Give better hikes to deserving people **
-Have a good vision about where you want to be with your products rather than being happy with sustenance revenue ***

    * Forcing people to come up with 1000+ junk ideas once in an year is not innovation
** Freshers doesn't know anything about work and may not even stay with the company for a year. They spend time loitering around and preparing for GMAT/GRE.
*** Customers using your product for 10 years doesn't mean that products cannot have a road-map

    Pros

The company is growing so fast and a great place to work for, lot of innovations, acquisitions and employee friendly policies, great learning for all the storage technology aspirants. Company outing, department outing, team outings and lot of fun at work. Free transport for support teams and perks.

    Cons

While it takes care of employees while they work with EMC, it really list bothered when you out of EMC and seek any assistance. Be careful which product you are joining, if you join for any small product then the future could be that as part of JV you might be out of company and would never get a chance to work for again.

    Advice to Management

Please treat your ex-employees well who left the company because of joint ventures and try to come back and join EMC, after all they left because of the commitment they showed for the decision made at the top level and joined other company.
