Pros
Well known for its excellent storage products. It owns VMware and RSA Security and both companies offer great products.
Cons
EMC regularly does layoffs to stay profitable. Reorganizations are routine and if you are new, you will probably lose your job. Pay is lower than their competitors and culture is tough - not people oriented. EMC and CA have similar cultures....
Management only care about themselves not their employees professional growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Need major shakeup here. Get rid of some of the older managers and bring in some new blood to change the culture.
Pros
When you really need something and can demonstrate why they have the resources to deliver.
The company has worked hard to keep people employed by finding new places for them rather than laying them off.
Cons
Very political environment can impede progress.
There is a lack of transparency in the business decisions that get made
Advice to Senior Management
work to keep employees engaged in the planning processes and be sure to provide meaningful data on why a certain action is taken not just what.
Pros
1. Good work-life balance
2. Good Stipend
Cons
1. Poor Benefits .
2. Poor Use of resources
Advice to Senior Management
Poor use of resources.

Cons

Advice to Senior Management
Enhance policies in the company to improve employee retention for the people who make a difference
Pros
Good work life balance
Ok pay
Extra money for 24/7 support
Cons
No much coding. Customer escalations are heavy.
Advice to Senior Management
Instead of maintenance development would be better.
Pros
If you are interested in seeing the future of technology, then EMC is the front seat of your dreams.
If you like to take vacation time, you will have the opportunity.
Everyone here is happy with their job.
Cons
It is big like a bank which bought 50 smaller ones, so working here with another "team" is like trying to get a bad tenant to pay the rent.
Politics
Everyone is ALWAYS on Vacation.
It seems some employees spend all their time getting others to do their work for them or pretending they are doing lots themselves. Most commonly in marketing where they will benefit from good results BECAUSE of good products and services regardless of their projects and initiatives.
Advice to Senior Management
The organizational hierarchy could be better explained.
Pros
EMC is one of the top IT infrastructure companies. Decent people, good products, huge install and partner base. Good place to go from the ground up to the top and make a career. There are lots of long time EMCers who are very well off financially and have moved from entry level into senior management. EMC sales still has a very strong reputation for being one of the best. If you can prove your mettle here, then you likely will succeed elsewhere. Other companies will want to hire you.
Cons
Large company means beaurocracy around certain policies. Large company means complexity and disorganization. Acquired companies are often forgotten and discarded.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on overall vision for specific types of technology more and execute on that vision. Don't just buy companies to push revenue in a nebulous fashion.
