Pros
- Fast growing company and good organization
Cons
- Pressure on performance assessment
Advice to Senior Management
NA
Pros
EMC has always expected the most out of all their employees, which means you get to work with smart and challenging people. Great benefits and fair compensation. I have been given some great opportunities during my time here, but they don't hand anyone anything, you need to go after it.
Cons
With the expectation of getting the most from you, it may seem like too much pressure at times, and there is very little room for push back.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to be strategic. Stay focused on the future and continue to look for new ways to do the same old thing.
Pros
Plenty of different work to do
Good benefits
Loyal employees stay long enough to learn their jobs well
Cons
Unclear how some people got into management
performance reviews are unpredictable
Pros
Great benefits and lots of recognition. Easy to navigate the organization and lots of help from peers.
Cons
EMC is a revenue focused company, and at the end of the day it is about your number.
Pros
Best place to learn great technology and great people. Excellent place to grow and implement great features and rollout great products
Cons
Too much of bureaucracy within managment. Slow changing company. Depends entirely in the which group you work .Frequent change in directions.
Pros
Good benefits
Smart People
Up to date technology
Very fast pace
Lost to learn
Good place to learn new skills
Cons
Too much work for the resources
Hiring constantly frozen, so resources are not there when needed
Too top heavy, VP etc
Lots of time spent on vision, not enough on execution
Advice to Senior Management
Help your employees more, they need more help. Trickle down more of the EMC gains, more rewards, better salaries. Make the career paths more consistent across all organizations
Pros
it is a global leader in IT
Cons
There is huge pressure every day to make goals
Advice to Senior Management
Do what you say
Pros
EMC's benefit and health insurance package are probably the best in the area around here, much better than some of the other large companies.
Cons
Too many talents in this company makes it difficult for you to get promoted.
Pros
For someone that's willing to devote your life to the comppany and work extremely hard you will go far.
Very flexible work schedule.
Great job if you like working with cutting edge technology.
Very good in-house educational trainingfacility......Classes are available if you are worthy and your manager approves them.
Cons
The company lays-off the bottom 10% performers every year.
Competition among co-workers to excel is fierce.
"Burnout" is very real at this company no matter what the position.
Advice to Senior Management
The old saying: "Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians"
Pros
There were plenty of opportunities to have major influence in the design, and construction of a number of major products.
They do a good job of working across geographic boundaries (better than other major software companies I've worked for.)
Cons
Information sharing is not something that I think the company does very well as a whole. In fact, getting access to basic reporting structure was difficult when I started. They are improving, but need to improve much more to encourage the free flow of ideas and foster more creativity.
Advice to Senior Management
Speed the transition to a more agile company and tear down barriers that prevent free information flow across groups. Invest more in getting architects and product managers to work cross-group.
