I worked at EMC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

This company has an excellent culture, great training opportunities and is a great place to work if you like being in a team environment.

    Cons

It took a month or two before I was comfortable using and working with all of the software they use, but once I was comfortable with the software, things went smoothly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers I worked under were excellent, encouraging and I always received feedback (good and bad), so always felt like I knew where I stood.

I have been working at EMC full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

No shortage of opportunities to work with world-class technology and the people that make it all work. Outstanding benefits that are unlike any I have every had at any other company. Promising career outlook and a great ability to move jobs inside the EMC Federation.

    Cons

We are currently in a penny-pinching mode which means it is very hard to get more or less anything done. Everyone is paranoid that we're all going to get laid off, and management's lack of communication does not help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We are a profitable company. We need to quit acting like we are broke. We have great technology and great customers (just look at the EMC World attendance if you have any doubt). If being a public company means we always have to watch every cent, maybe we should go private.

I worked at EMC as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Salary, training, integration with other interns, projects, LinkedIn training. There's an enormous opportunity to network and learn about their Leadership development programs. Fitness centers are great as well. Company is working to change the culture and move towards the third platform of data storage. Great first experience. Definitely helped me get my foot in the door of the workplace. Benefits are wonderful.

    Cons

Big company, can get lost in the mix. Doesn't attract a young crowd of people. Often hard to understand exactly what the company does until you've been working there for a year.

I have been working at EMC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Easy work & rarely work long hours
    - Standard benefits (health, retirement match, etc)
    - If you have an associate degree or online degree, and just want a mediocre, "put-in-your-time-then-go-home" gig then this might be a good place for you.

    Cons

    - Lack of interesting work. Trivial, manual, monkey labor.
    - Total compensation package
    - Very little practical education on-the-job
    - Shares an office with a large call center and is generally looked down upon by others within EMC as a cheap onshore labor facility.

There are lot of EMC product out in market and you will always have work.

    Cons

Promotions and salary hike are for chosen few . it is very closed licensed based products , so you are stick to it for rest of your career. Company put his profit first and foremost before employee. lots of management changes makes you wonder where you will be tomorrow.

I have been working at EMC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits.- Health and Education. Health is one of the best I have seen, and education if you have the courage to go to night school do it!

    Cons

You are never considered a real employee just another number, HR does not have your best interest, you consistently over sold on your abilities from day one, no clear path on how to build your career, managers/supervisors micromanage, managers are inexperienced; they set expectations and never met them. salary is not competitive,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relocate seasoned managers to Utah...but wait no one wants to come to Utah in EMC.
