    Pros

    Solid pay, good benefits, etc.

Dysfunctional management style that relies too much on being a "yes" person instead of thinking. Bringing constructive opinions to the table is a no go.

    Advice to Management

listen to the engineers who do the technical work. We are a wealth of information.

    Pros

EMC is a fast paced and intense culture. The job focuses on the quality and how hard you work more than the hours you put in. You will be expected to put in extra time when needed, and the average work week is 50+ hours. You will find an abundance of resources at your disposals and people readily willing to assist you, but don't expect people to do your work for you. You are guaranteed to ever be bored, and to have motivated and talented colleagues.

    Cons

EMC2 is sometimes jokingly referred to stand for Every Marriage Ceases. A reference to the long hours or sudden schedule changes you will be asked to accommodate. EMC2 also refers to Everything Must Change twice. Expect frequent change as a part of working here, if you don't like a change chances are it will change again before long. EMC constantly retools it's processes and market strategy to remain competitive. Reorganizations are common. So are periodic layoffs as the company aquires new firms and trims the organization. This also seems to be how the company continuously culls the bottom 5-10% of performers.

    Pros

EMC has a wide variety of options to explore in storage. Perks, benefits, etc are good. RSUs are absolutely less compared to other companies.

    Cons

Culture is pathetic. You need to seek multiple approvals to innovate anything in the product. Laid back people would resist anything new in the product. Product Management is not on top of products and competition, they stay in shadows.

    Advice to Management

Improve culture for innovation and stop integrating with products. Let teams innovate, provide them a problem and ask them to solve. Leadership keeps changing and it has negative effect on productivity and time to market. Leadership is NOT bold to mention truth and dig into details before making decisions.

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits. Access to latest in IT. Great co-workers and bosses. Excellent severance system (pay continuation) provides financial security.

    Cons

Quarterly reports that took so much time to write but were barely looked at by management. If you're assigned full-time to a client you don't truly feel part of EMC, as you're quite disconnected. Too many bosses and re-orgs (back a few years ago).

    Advice to Management

You're doing well. At the customer engagement level, more team leaders to encourage and assist the staff performing the work. And when the client ended my engagement, you were there to help me move on. Not many companies do that and it was incredibly appreciated.

    Pros

    Flexible working hours
Everyone is very helpful and friendly
Very good opportunities for advancement for early-in-career folks
    Solid professional development
    Very prestigious program
Work is meaningful, not busy work

    Cons

    Sometimes too much downtime
Not too much interaction between interns
The work can be dull if it is not something you like or want to do, but this was not an issue for me, and this is also the case with any job.

    Advice to Management

Focusing on the FTP, FMP, and FLP is hugely important to the growth of the financial portion of your company. Keep investing resources into these programs to see great ROI in the long term.
