    Great Internship

    Former Employee - Sales Internship
    Former Employee - Sales Internship

    I worked at EMC

    Pros

Fun internship going on sales calls with the sales reps and DMs. I was able to meet a lot of high level executives and be a part of important sales meetings.

    Cons

There is a lot of downtime. Sometimes it is tough to get in contact with people when you need something to do. You just need to call them and see them in person to schedule something and don't be afraid of annoying them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at EMC

    Pros

    * Company is doing a great job staying ahead of the curve and "skating to where the puck is going to be"
    * From a sales standpoint you are given great autonomy to get your mission accomplished, employees are encouraged to be self directed, creative and develop programs and practices that work.
*The quality and quantity of training you receive is second to none in the industry, developing mastery of your craft is enabled through an "always learning" culture.
    * The overall EMC culture is always focused on doing what's right for the customer, accountability and empowerment and with when the company is successful everyone benefits -this helps even people in remote offices feel like we're really part of something much bigger than our own business segment.

    Cons

    * Being a public company means the need to deliver growth and results. This accountability is difficult for some but shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in the industry.
    * Employees need to be prepared for constant change, with the industry shifting from old school products to new generation products the need to adjust and learn and adapt has intensified.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at EMC as an intern (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Company. The benefits are top notch. Car allowance and cell phone are both company paid. Pretty flexible during work hours.

    Cons

Micromanagement is trending...The Sales office needs a bit of a facelift. the 1990s called and they want their décor back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some sort of actual employee appreciation gathering would be cool. For instance our yearly Christmas party is sponsored by a certain switch vendor. Really..EMC.... in 2013 you cleared 23 billion in revenue.

    Pros

Free coffee, tea and soda and working form home, but career growth is none.

    Cons

Long commute to Pleasanton, CA and the managers there are not qualified and don't listen to employees and make poor strategic business decisions that leads to layoffs of top performing employees based on fear and insecurity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees you don't know everything.

I have been working at EMC

    Pros

They pay well and they are international

    Cons

They used to treat employees like people. No longer.
    It's a high stretch environment.
It's very politically charged without much in the way of stability.
