    Pros

exciting and innovative work, high impact projects, large responsibilities, a lot of interaction with upper management

    Pros

    Better than average job security; generally laid back organizational culture; good benefits;

not many growth prospects from within but depends more on who you know; Major decisions and policies dictated by parent Germany company Merck KGaA; not much innovation from the company but acquired mainly through acquisitions.

I worked at EMD Millipore full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very professioal, challenging, and great place to work. Very good health benefits,, vacation and 401k match.

    Cons

Tough to keep such a large global company on the same page with regards to company culture and practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Many are still managers from Millipore, before the Merck KGaA acquisition and are highly regarded.

I have been working at EMD Millipore full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The working environment is enjoyable with a strong cross functional team element.
The scope and opportunities in research fields is very varied.
Rewards are good and personal benefits comparable to others in this space.

    Cons

The current management team is more internally focused and focused on themselves rather than the technology, investing in research and understaning the customer. The result is negativley affecting the dynamic nature of the company.
There is currently a lack of stategic direction and a lack of decsion making and risk taking from the senior management team. Ask about this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the leadership team and the culture that was put in place by Robert Yates.

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at EMD Millipore

    Pros

The people I work with directly are easy to work with and make it enjoyable.

    Cons

Too many changes all at once with SAP and all the databases changing. When people leave they are not replaced so more work given to current employees. Have to go thru so many more chains of command to get anything done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to the employees so there is not a disconnect between upper management and employees.

    Pros

The benefits are very good. The over all culture is good. Flexibility and work/life balance can be very good depending on what division and department you are in. Expectations are clear.

    Cons

Still in the middle of some very large changes. Some policies seem to be very departmental. Typical large company trying to get more work out with less people. At times work load can be very overwhelming for some groups and leads to burn out quickly.
