    I worked at EPFL full-time

    Pros

EPFL's graduate program is among the top ones worldwide. You will enjoy having plenty of resources available to do your research and will also have access to top experts in various fields with whom you can interact and advance in your research.

    Cons

Certain labs at EPFL have the tendency to pay only a fraction of the salary (e.g. 75%) because as a graduate student you need to contribute to your education. Although the salary is still decent, it doesn't feel fair to get only a fraction of what other colleagues make.

I worked at EPFL full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great location, great quality of life: close to the Geneva lake and to the ski resorts. Abundance of money and world class equipment. Great and smart people to work with.

    Cons

Lack of challenge, maybe due to the too good environment? And I guess this has more to do with Academia than EPFL in itself, but the career opportunities to develop at EPFL are almost non existent.

I have been working at EPFL as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Working environment, and type of work are amazing. Chance to improve in a number of of ways, apart from intellectual exchange with very smart people. Students on the campus make the daily routine go away.

    Cons

Salaries scale seems uneven, between administrative personnel and researchers. Policies imposed on research contracts lead to fund-hunting instead of innovation targeted research.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Research personnel is more valuable than administration. They should be rewarded for their effort in innovation, instead of being personally penalized .
