    I worked at EPFL full-time

    Pros

EPFL's graduate program is among the top ones worldwide. You will enjoy having plenty of resources available to do your research and will also have access to top experts in various fields with whom you can interact and advance in your research.

    Cons

Certain labs at EPFL have the tendency to pay only a fraction of the salary (e.g. 75%) because as a graduate student you need to contribute to your education. Although the salary is still decent, it doesn't feel fair to get only a fraction of what other colleagues make.

I have been working at EPFL full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Access to the world's best tools for scientific research
    - Infrastructure is set up for efficiency at the workbench
    - Collaborators across many disciplines, and collegial atmosphere
    - Strong startup culture, with ties to the on-campus Parc Scientifique and its mix of startups to larger operations
    - You feel valued by the system and not another number like in some places I have worked
    - Salary and benefits

    Cons

    - Departments are kind of like labs on individual islands. There is no unifying theme.
    - Little to no career advising for post-bachelors
    - Lack of internal pilot project funding, and too much funding for some labs which are doing terrible work

I worked at EPFL full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Where else do you get paid to do a PhD? Plus no worries for raising research funds or vacation time etc. Great international atmosphere.

    Cons

Badly in need of HR training for lab-heads (profs) and harassment prevention and diversity training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear about rules for maximum contract length at hiring. Distribute more information about Swiss laws for staying in Switzerland and filing complaints against colleagues.
