Aspiring software engineers should look elsewhere.

    Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Huntsville, AL

ProsResearch oriented and very laid back atmosphere. Immigrant and H1B friendly, almost every second guy in the company is Indian or Chinese.

ConsThis company is not really a good place for software engineers. Most of their software systems are legacy CFD support software that does not offer any challenges from a computer science point of view. Most of the software engineers at ESI work on user interface design, which of course is boring and terrible for someone looking to further his career as a computer scientist. The big issue is, when you are hired as a software engineer, it appears you are hired to work on engineering software but in reality you end up designing user interfaces using outdated and outmoded UI toolkits.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo much CFDRC legacy is still lingering in the Huntsville office. There are serious communication problems between different teams and quite honestly they hate the guts of each other. It wouldn't hurt to move people between different worldwide offices (temporarily or permanently) to temper down these differences and make them feel like they belong to the bigger ESI family.

ProsEmployees have freedom. It is a fun place to work. The timings are flexible.

ConsAs this is a product development company, moving up the ladder is difficult

Advice to Senior ManagementThere should be proper succession planning in place.

    Great place to work

    CFD (Current Employee)
    Pune (India)

    ProsGood salaries
Nice place to learn CFD and variety of softwares
    Lot of freedom from managers
    Frequent abroad trips

    ConsTight deadlines
Projects mostly concentrated on automotive area
    Administration needs clarity

Advice to Senior ManagementI object the bad reviews here as they are written by few narrow minded people. Here we are like a joint family with indian culture and those who wrote bad reviews does not know the value and essence of joint family.
Overally this is a great place to work. Nobody can spoil this place by writing such false bad reviews

Working in ESI Group as a person who was recruited at the middle of their career is not very satisfactory.

    Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Bangalore (India)

ProsIt is good to work as a beginer, because you can learn things which may not be possible to learn from other similar organizations which work in this domain.

ConsAttitude of upper management is to make people work as they say.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay heed to the employees.

Managing the product development technical activities from Requirement collection to implementation of the features.

    Tech Leader (Current Employee)
    Bangalore (India)

ProsGreat learning for the beginners. Explore many things in technical whatever you want. Very relaxed work environment. Very less process and unnecessary activities.

ConsWell experienced people find difficult here. Career growth limited. very less exposure to the management skills. intermediate management is not so good as the top management.

Advice to Senior ManagementIdentification of new set off leaders/upcoming leaders are required. Employees problems are not elevated to the higher management, since intermediate management is hide details which affects them. Learning a new tool/technology should be encouraged(intermediate management is not really supporting). Some management training is really required for the mangers.
