I have been working at EY full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

You can make your career what you want at EY, there are opportunities to grow that a strong performer can create through proper management of their career and by expressing their objectives. EY does an excellent job in assisting growth for employees.

    Cons

The company is full of strong performers and you will need to be attentive to your career and always working to grow. The environment is supportive but also competitive, be ready to work for your success.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hands down - the people. EY is full of fun, smart, and hard working people. The work can be dry at times but the people make it worth it.

    Cons

Hours can be long but it should be expected. Salary isn't also the highest but year-over-year growth in salary is pretty good/impressive (depending on your performance).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an open door and keep empowering people. I've learned and benefited the most from being put in challenging situations.

I worked at EY full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Experiences made me more valuable everyday. People are great. Work was rewarding. Clients were fun.

    Cons

None - EY is a great place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful with allowing the PCAOB to manage you. People are paid more and learning less about business operations. Therefore, public accounting experience is becoming less valuable to businesses.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The best thing about EY is its culture. People honestly care about each other and try to help as much as possible. While people are competitive they never cross the line and respect personal relationships. EY also goes to great lengths to accommodate personal needs of its employees. Overall, I think it would be very hard to find another consulting firm with such strong people oriented culture.

    Cons

Pay and Benefits are below the consulting industry average and the bonus payments are too low to act an incentive. EY needs to set clear expectations around pay for new comers before they join the firm. A lot of new hire MBA are quickly disappointed to note that their salaries will almost remain the same for the first 3 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on people culture and make sure pay hikes and bonuses are re-calibrated to match with the rest of the industry. Everyone works very hard in the consulting industry and not having these efforts recognized by adequate pay hikes/bonus payments will severely demotivate employees. Improve the year-end review process by making it more efficient and transparent.

I worked at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

EY is going through a transition to position it self for success. After the transition is complete they will be even more focused on client serving (which is great experience/exposure for everyone working at EY). This should greatly increase profits and better incentives.

    Cons

They are not doing a good job communicating and keeping currently employees satisfied during the transition phase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More transparency, better incentives for currently employees, better recognition of hard work across the board

I have been working at EY full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Strong network and opportunities to really build experience working in a lot of different industries. You also work with tons of teams and learn a nice set of skills whether its learning Audit skills or gaining a deeper understanding about finance and accounting, especially when it comes to applications of concepts.

    Cons

It can be easy to get stuck in a specialized role which can limit exit opportunities. The key is to know when to take your experience and move on to the next thing.

    Pros

Good coworkers and resources; learned some new client business and consulting tools. I enjoyed company-wide training events and networking.

    Cons

Mismatched projects; absentee leadership - hiring process does not capture candidate strengths nor gives a good picture of what the work is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give up on analytics and just focus on IT transformation consulting.
