    Pros

Great exposure to various types of business and processes. Good benefits and a well organized office (the one I was associated with). Good support from management.

    Cons

Not for the weak or those with a busy personal life. Geared toward the up and coming accounting professional with a lot of stamina and able to dedicate most of their waking hours to their job.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on retention. Offer incentives to offset the workload. Clients do not appreciate having to retrain new audit staff every year.

    Pros

Working at EY is a great opportunity to learn. You see a lot of different companies, you learn how they operate, and you learn how to work with people in a variety of environments and cultures.

    Cons

    The hours are terrible
The work is tedious and repetitive
Management plans poorly for overlapping projects and blame staff for the resulting problems

    Advice to Management

Management needs to listen to employees when they come to them with problems. EY prides itself on hiring driven, intelligent people. That kind of person doesn't go to their boss saying they can't handle the workload they have unless they really can't.
be more transparent about internal processes, specifically transfers. establish a clear process and a way to guide those employees that do transfer through it. teach that to the people consultants.

    Pros

Personal development opportunities are endless. Management and company culture really geared towards personal development and people first. Experience gained is significant. Project opportunities uncommon for peer group at other companies.

    Cons

Work life balance is very unpredictable. Travel schedule and project assignment is normally out of your hands. Local management attempts to be flexible given personal circumstances, but only so much they can do based on regional utilization requirements.

    Advice to Management

Please continue down the path of Benefits and Master Plan transparency. This area has really improved over the past 2 years, and I would like to continue seeing the positive tone at the top and the respective effort.

    Pros

Lot of opportunities within the firm to work in different practices, on different clients and with/for different people. I didn't enjoy my work, but I did enjoy the people I worked with.

    Cons

The culture is so focused on billable hours. Employees take a real sense of pride in how much they work. I'm more concerned with outcome than effort, so this always rubbed me the wrong way. Working late is fine, but working late for the sake of working late was not for me.

    Advice to Management

Find a value-added way to bill clients and let that be your focus instead of utilization.
