Great place to start, not necessarily to continue

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Mumbai (India)

Pros1. Excellent learning curve, albeit a bit short (Expect to be sitting across a CFO a week from joining)
    2. Great peer support
    3. Challenging environment. Forces you to grow up quick if you're joining from college
    4. Some of the senior leadership is really supportive
    5. Great brand to be associated with. B-schools will love you

Cons1. Learning curve might end very very soon depending on service line
    2. Work life balance takes a hit
    3. Pay is terrible
    4. HR is non existent
    5. Don't expect a "wholesome" atmosphere. No off-sites, team dinners, charging cabs home. Work and leave
    6. Culture is hypocritical. While they encourage "Work from home, leave on time" on paper. Don't expect to see it happening in real life

Advice to Senior Management1. Up the pay please. Good people are leaving
    2. Find out why your attrition is so high and do something about it
    3. Please be clear while communicating the culture. The paper says different, working here is a whole other ball game

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
    Mumbai (India)

    ProsOpportunity across sectors and functions

ConsLowest paymaster in bigger consulting firms
Manager defines your work life, which for a few could be worse than miserable

Advice to Senior ManagementTo have better people pay has to be proportional

I was in risk consulting/internal audit in EY India in Mumbai location.

    Associate Consultant (Former Employee)
    Mumbai (India)

ProsExcellent work exposure right at the start. Lots of travel opportunities. From senior to lower management, all people are very approachable and helpful. You will almost always have some work. You will get to learn loads and loads and will always face some challenges somewhere. Strong clienteles. Excellent brand value which you will realise even more after you leave EY. Intelligent people around. Reasonably good pay masters. You will have less time available for fun activities but they do keep it. If you want to learn loads in a very short span of time then come to the Big 4s.

ConsToo much work pressure, so sometimes people get frustrated and vent frustrations on others. Stress can be quite high. Reasonable amount of office politics. Competitive spirit is high. Pay rise not very impressive. Bonuses are just about fair. travelling can take toll on you after some time. Some projects require extensive travelling and staying away from home. Bosses can be harsh sometimes on you.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease give a breather to employees every now and then. With too much work pressure people get frustrated and vent it on others. Give more opportunities for international assignments. Please increase your pay hike percentages and bonuses as EY is earning loads.

    b. You may need to cancel you vacation plans many a times.
    c. Tremendous work pressure.

Experience with EY was positive overall. Got a great boost to career after my first job at EY.

    Assistant Manager (Current Employee)
    Mumbai (India)

ProsAmple opportunities to grow at a fast pace if you have got the appetite.
    Open door culture.

ConsLong working hours makes life difficult sometimes when you have to meet social obligations. Hostile attitude of some of the Managers does not help either while working in a fast paced environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain and prepare the managers in better planning and management skills specially in tough situations (eg: when working on a hostile client, tough deadlines, etc)
