I have been working at EY full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Firm has great opportunities, variety in the work it does and an increasingly optimistic brand within the market. Market leader in several areas makes it a unique place to work. If you network well and put in the long hours that come with it, you will go places. Leadership is people focussed and want to do the right thing. Travel benefits, clients are all great.

    Cons

Work-life balance, whoever speaks the loudest about accomplishments gets heard in front of management, over-emphasis on utilization makes having a work-life balance hard and compensation is rather paltry.

    Approves of CEO

    I worked at EY

    Pros

Many opportunities to learn and step up early on.

    Cons

When work comes down, it can be challenging to keep your work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The partners at EY do seem to care. Sr. managers are mostly trying to stay afloat and could do better in the area of leading by example.

I have been working at EY full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - You learn a lot and get to see many different things
    - Very diverse culture. You always find yourself working with people from different parts of the world
    - If you don't do anything wrong, you get a raise every year and get promoted based on a set schedule
    - In general, people here are very friendly and caring
    - Having EY on your resume is very good

    Cons

    - No work-life balance. The firm talks about flexibility all the time, but you don't always get it (or you would rather not get it and have more reasonable hours)
    - Hours can be very very long
    - If you are in the assurance practice, you will often feel that your work is meaningless and not adding value to anything (It is very clear that your client only wants to get the opinion from you and wants you to leave. They absolutely don't care about the quality of your workpapers and all these audit strategies you spent so much time on.)

I have been working at EY

    Pros

EY is a wonderful organization, offering enormous growth potential and ability to move across practices or geographies. I have worked with teams both US based and international, and I have found here some of the smartest and brightest people I've ever known. Compensation at the higher-levels (senior manager and above) is at par with market and very competitive. Great exposure to top companies/clients in New York. Great culture and lots of internal organizations to join. Good vacation/ time off policy.

    Cons

Not much work-life balance as you move up the ladder. Little predictability in terms of own schedule: it is a client-driven business, so you work on the client's schedule.
