    Pros

Umm.... Lets see... Well.... Umm.... So, there is... Um, and there is ummm... Well, wow... This is tough...

    Cons

Culture is terrible, little to no real training, you'll be forced to keep secrets from everyone there, no information sharing, rivalry between departments, executives and vps are overpaid to underperform. While the stores get put on spending freezes and the stock price is tanking, executives buy an elaborate and over-the-top office on the beach in Miami at one of the most prestigious properties in all of Florida. Executives take limos, stay at the W and travel first class wherever they go. They also bring in executives and vps from out of state and don't ask them to move here. Instead they pay for corporate apartments and flights home every weekend. The executive team talks about doing what's right for the customer at big company events and then strategizes how to get them trapped in debt behind closed doors. This place is a dumpster fire and they bleed cash because they're a bunch of elitists. The main office is so over crowded that offices that should have one person in them is shared by 5-10. EZCORP is notorious for spontaneous terminations. If you're thinking about applying, DON'T!!!! Unemployment is a better option. If you're currently working at EZCORP, GET OUT!!! In this case the grass is in fact greener on the other side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You don't want to work here if you have a choice; ask recruiters, current employees (any level), and former employees.

    Pros

location, stable job (the don't really fire people because they already have such high turnover), clean environment, expectations are low

    Cons

WHEN you can get information from IT, it's missing parts and it's slow. There's no comradery, mentorship, or team spirit - everyone is in it for themselves, for a paycheck, and no one will help you, they don't even know how to do their own jobs properly. Bonuses are for Director level only, so you won't get anything amazing for being amazing. Holidays and time off are limited compared to other jobs in Austin. There are no processes in place for improvement or growth - they have a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude, and if it is broke, they "band-aid" it, instead of addressing the issues for the long term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying attention. It's like everyone is alseep, I can't think of another reason that the environment is as bad as it is. I feel like they must not know because nothing is being done, not on the smallest scale.

    Pros

Great discounts and customers. Never a dull moment .

    Cons

The managers above the store managers in this company are incredibly clueless. Arrogant, unprofessional, back-biting examples of the worst management technics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I was CEO and my company's stock took a big hit I would find the cancer and remove it.

Very good learning experience, wonderful culture

    Pros

great culture; interesting business model; potential for lucrative profits if they can figure out how to streamline activities and focus on core profit making

    Cons

strife within the company; management is unsure of how they want to move forward; the facilities are slightly below par

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

give employees more room to do what they are paid to do and ask them for their opinion

  6.

    Pros

There are some fun people here if you can get them to talk. Paycheck is always on time.

    Cons

Lack of collaboration—right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, which sometimes results in the same work being done by different people and other times one group's efforts unintentionally sabotage another's.

Some areas of the company are simply toxic. There is a lot of aggression and an unwillingness to cooperate or even listen.

Everything is a secret. Stock price is plummeting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate on core business and be on the same page.

    Pros

401k. Employees work toward common goal.

    Cons

New employees are poorly trained. New store managers have no clue what's going on. New managers make up rules and insist that they are company policy. No breaks given at any time, other than lunches and then not always at legally specified times.Area managers have the mentality that because the economy is bad that they can replace you if you don't do exactly as they say("there's 10 other applicants ready to take your job"). Upper management is constantly asking for more and more and more while at the same time cutting every ones work hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees with more respect. Allow them to voice there opinions. Ask for there opinions before implementing new programs, after all we are on the front lines. Require all upper management to work at the store level for a few weeks so they can better understand what it is that we go through on a daily basis. Get back to the basics and let us be true pawnbrokers again...

    Pros

Customers and unique merchandise. Fun in the environment for the most part.

    Cons

Usually what sucks with retail is the customers but that was actually a pro for me.
Sadly it was the people I "worked with" that ruined it for me. Whether it be young managers that care more about exercising their "manager card" than they do about running a good store or even going as far as managers taking merchandise home to "try out" an item for a couple of days before they decide not to buy it. There were even some times that while an item was on layaway, the person would take it home for the duration of the layaway to play with it. Store management seemed to choose favorites and take sides which just made it flat out miserable to go in everyday. I strived to be in charge of buys just so I could avoid contact with the other employees because of the gossip and backstabbing. It just felt that I had to wear pillows on my feet because if how many eggshells I had to walk on to get through the
day. The store manager also would talk bad about other employees directly to employees behind their backs, then completely deny it if you inquired about it. The store manager would also go to other stores and air the dirty laundry of our store to the other store managers then claim he didn't know how they were finding out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat each person equal to the other employees. No employee should ever feel like they have to hide from the others just to avoid being singled out off of an untruth.
