I worked at Early Warning Services full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This company has consistently grown in size and revenue over the last 8+ years. They strive to provide the most comprehensive benefits and wellness programs in the valley. This is not a start-up company culture with free food, ping-pong and pets. What they do offer is the opportunity to work on software that provides value added risk and fraud prevention services to the financial industry. The work done at Early Warning helps ordinary people not just corporations. The company is stable and has not down-sized in their history. If you are willing to work hard and want to lead the opportunities will present themselves.

    Cons

As with many companies that grow rapidly there are periods of time when the focus seems to be all over the map. Sometimes the lack of focus can scare people off. The company has not yet matured to a point where it is fully capable of delivering at a rapid enough pace to keep up with the ever changing fraud and risk industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in quality employees that can think outside the box and help mature the company to a point where it can execute and deliver much faster and more efficiently. The company needs more people that can execute and less that merely want to set strategy.

    Cons

Getting things done can be a little tough at times because of security policies within the company

A lot of change has occurred over the past few months. Excited with the new leadership and direction I think we are going. The senior management score below is higher now that we have full time leadership in IT.

    Cons

    Downward communication needs to improve.

I worked at Early Warning Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company employs many who have significant experience in the industry. Leadership truly lives the company's mission of combatting financial fraud and managing risk. The company utilizes progressive technology to create services and secure data.

    Cons

Good place to work for a while, but the slow pace of progress becomes frustrating. A lack of focus can also be frustrating.

I have been working at Early Warning Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Concierge services like auto service, dry cleaning, and finding flower services
    Fruit on Mondays
    Four weeks of PTO
    Volunteer Day
    Flexible work hours

    Cons

Lack of management or support and favoritism. Can't get the resources
or training to be effective at the job. Get mixed feedback
of doing well or bad. Everything is slow. Not producing
because of lack of resources. A lot of time spent on interviewing
candidates but not hiring them due to lack of skills, or
can't compensate them like other companies can or like
the market supports. Departments not collaborating, but instead
    pointing blame.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage and support all of the people that work for you.

I have been working at Early Warning Services full-time

    Pros

    Convenient location,
    Casual dress code,
    Friendly Concierge and Security Guards,
Covered parking available and reasonably priced,
(difficulty meeting the 20 word minimum for this entry)

    Cons

Completely unprofessional atmosphere. Far too many layers of middle management, who don't seem to do much ... spend more time on their personal cell phones than anything else. The culture has allowed bullies and back-stabbers to flourish. It's perfectly acceptable for certain individuals to demean and yell at others they consider "beneath" them. The turn-over in personnel is astounding and open positions seem impossible to fill. Respect for others is a foreign concept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do some major housecleaning to eliminate the toxic people that are poisoning your entire workforce. If you're going to "talk the talk" of ethics and values, you better learn to "walk the walk".

    Cons

You must be on your A-Game to work here - lots of moving parts and expectations are high. Job training could be improved.

    Pros

HR puts on a ton of events and is always giving stuff away. Pretty flexible days. A paycheck?

    Cons

    IT and Security

The IT and Security department seem to always be at odds which results in everything taking twice as long to get done as it should. The management of the security department is a mess. On the technology side, management is so full of "black-helicopter-paranoia" that everything is an emergency. In the other security group, the management seems to know virtually nothing about anything and spends their time randomly walking around looking for things to complain about. This level of dysfunction isn't too surprising, considering it comes from the top. The only good thing I have to say about security is that there are one or two dedicated engineers there that seem to actually get work done and not upset everyone in the company at the same time.

The Operations department isn't any better. Management seems disinterested in working half the time, and the other half the time they spend counting tickets. No one seems to know what anyone else is doing and many of the employees don't even seem to know what they are doing. At a high level, management seems to have a good idea of what needs to get done, but they don't know how to do it themselves and it never gets communicated down to their minions. Projects are horrible mismanaged and never executed properly, strong personalities conflict within the groups, and there are never enough resources for what is asked of the department, probably because management spending all the money on their bonuses. We have a few hard workers, but they seem to have given up long ago.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire everyone in security and Ops except for the few that are actually getting stuff done and start over. Or don't, since it seems from the existing reviews here management is holy unaware of how messed up things are or just don't care to fix them.
