I have been working at East Baton Rouge City Parish

    Pros

Benefits, sense of security and flexibility with time off. One can retire after. 25 years of service with 75% of salary at any age.

    Cons

There is a 12 step pay scale and once you reach top you are stuck unless you promote within if something is available or you have to transfer to another department

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees having same titles throughout city parish should have same duties and if it varies such as more work, responsibility, stress, demands because of where they work the salary and title should be changed to fit job they are actually doing.

I worked at East Baton Rouge City Parish full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Job security. hard to loose your job.

    Cons

If upper management doesn't like you, they will make it hard for you and try to make you quit to loose your invested money. Upper management doesn't follow ethics and blatant racism still exists. No raises given in about 4 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the rules yourselves. Ethics are in place for a reason.

I have been working at East Baton Rouge City Parish

    Pros

The City Parish is a great place to work if you want a low stress, do the job by the book employment experience. Great retirement plan. You will never have to work more than 40 hrs in a week.

    Cons

Low compensation, zero incentives to think outside the box or be productive, horrible benefits, and co-workers who lack any work ethic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership needs to focus on incentives for hard, quality work. Leadership needs to also develop an effective system for getting rid of nuisance workers. Also, compensation should be increased marginally.
