I worked at East Carolina University full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Very nice location - good weather, close to beaches, lots of recreational opportunities
Institution of higher education - good opportunities for continuing education, beautiful campus

    Cons

People were generally very nice and pleasant, but there were a lot of cliques and internal groups present. Established employers outside of your own specific department weren't as welcoming or inviting as hoped. It was very tough being a person completely new to the area and not knowing anyone. You would think they would be more accommodating for a new person.

I have been working at East Carolina University part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Every semester gets something new out of me. Great to hold a job while still studying . Professors are understanding and very supportive ( for the professors I worked with)

    Cons

Sometimes handling both job and school work becomes challenging that it exceeds my hours and I don't get paid for it..

  7. At times a great place to work but lots of room for improvement

I have been working at East Carolina University

    Pros

Very nice staff, lots of opportunities to drive your own project in a smaller lab environment

    Cons

No grant money, Professors who gossip in the hall about students and staff, Professors acting unprofessionally without any repercussions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat students and staff professionally and remember that teamwork accomplishes more

I have been working at East Carolina University full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Probably the best employer in eastern NC. Average pay (good compared to the area), great working conditions, small population of very dedicated staff.

    Cons

Average employees are just that, higher ed is currently under the microscope, ever declining budgets

I worked at East Carolina University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Like most state jobs, the benefits are excellent. Generally, the people are friendly and work hard. It isn't hard to do well if you work hard.

    Cons

The University tolerates mediocrity. It is hard to try new things and introduce new technologies. Most of the work is not challenging. They don't generally care about family responsibilities either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation is good, but there is a general mistrust of people from outside of Greenville. There should be more in the area to draw people from different places with different ideals in.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

    Entertaining
    Right there with fans
    Constantly moving
    Meal included per game
    Get to work with friends

    Cons

    Long hours of standing
    Constant Customer complaints about prices
Not much training (though most of the work is common sense)
    Constantly moving
    Weather

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to pay attention to sanitation; saw quite a few things that scared me.
