I worked at East Carolina University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

East Carolina University offers great opportunities for student workers! There are many different departments within the school that need people to design promotional items for events around campus.

    Cons

As a student, you are only allowed to work a certain number of hours on campus. This is inconvenient if you are relying on the money to pay for rent, books, food, etc.

    Pros

Being a Pirate is the best thing in North Carolina. Working for this university is fun, fast paced and a great learning experience. If you like working with students and being a mentor, this place is for you.

    Cons

Greenville itself isn't the best city. Its dirty, houses very limited food and shopping options, and can be dangerous past a certain time of night.

I have been working at East Carolina University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fairly laid back environment, although the start of semesters are always hectic. You work for the state, technically, so you do have great benefits.

    Cons

Insurance is free for the employee, although you pay quite a bit to add others. Much higher premium than a private employer.

I have been working at East Carolina University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The school has good benefits and is dedicated to work life balance. The people are friendly and the students are nice.

    Cons

The pay is lower then other schools and ECU is behind on the advancements that other institutions are setting in place.

    Advice to Management

Benchmark some other schools, increase salaries to be more competitive and start recruiting from other places instead of hiring internally so often.
