    Pros

    The company Vice President is a great guy to work for and makes you feel that you are a valued member of the team

    Cons

    Contrary or mixed directions given whihc leaves you to guessing at times.

    Pros

    The opportunities to make a good living are in place. the company has the resources to purchase a lot of deals and give good selling profits.

    Cons

    it requires a lot of hours. and the weekends and holidays are the busiest times

    I worked at East Coast Appliance full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Most employees were respectful and eager to help each other and the customers out. The new appliances sold were fine, but allot of scratch and dent merchandise seemed to get more than average amount of trouble calls.

    Cons

    There seemed to be an internal power struggle and communication breakdown between supervisors of each department resulting in wasted time trying to interprit what needed to get done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow technicians more time on large repair jobs especially if ad ons are given at the same address.

    I have been working at East Coast Appliance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    The job can be fun and you get to work with a very friendly customer base. East Coast Appliance offers great training opportunities from the different vendors.

    Cons

    long hours, constant negative reinforcement and policies change without warning. The job is structured only to reward the top sales people. There are way too many meetings for the various departments each week. Management expects employees to attend all meetings, even if it is your day off. If an associate misses a meeting, money will be deducted from their pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Bring in a better management team and stop the excessive meetings, so that employees can balance their work and personal lives.

    I have been working at East Coast Appliance

    Pros

    There are some fine people who work at East Coast Appliances that i like working with in all departments. Most people are good at what they do. I like working with them.

    Cons

    No integrity in upper management because they tell you onething and do another. They "special buy" things and tell the salespeople sell them so they can make extra money but the boss messes up the "cost" so theres nothing "extra", sometimes its less!
    We were told the Town Center store was closing because the city wanted the building back to start building light rail. The owner kept asking us "you see it in the paper, right?" over and over. Less then a week later light rail was pretty dead in the city and Rob Nicholson the owner had to admit to us and the newspaper that the store just wasnt' making money. The upper managment lost my respect when they lied . And kept lying til it hit the news. The crazy things the people knew he wasn't telling the truth but they kept at it telling the hole company that in a meeting.
    They make delivery drivers go back to places and dont get paid even if its not there fault a mistake was made. And the service people get yelled at when they try to do whats right even if its bending a rule. Then they say the customer is always right but make them feel the pain. What does that mean.
    It doesn't make sence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Transparency goes a long way to making emplyoees happy, and happy emplyoees sell more. When happy emplyoees understand the pay, they sell more. When emplyoees see the fruits of there labor and happy customers that make them happy to.Happy service custoemrs leads to happy warehous to happy drivers to happy sales to happy bosses. Its a happy happy world out there. East Coast Appliances isnt a happy place.

    Pros

    The employees are a great bunch of people. They pull together to get the job done. Little recognition by upper management. Money is okay,but owner kept changing the pay plan. It's
    basically a family business and no one is a member of the family. If you decide to work there, make
    sure you read Winning Through Intimidation, by Robert Ringer. You'll know what your in for at East
    Coast.

    Cons

    Long hours. Low pay. Act of congress to get time off. Self serving sales meetings, which are
    nothing more than a flogging session. Every one is told about the enormous amount of money
    they are going to make. WIthin a month every new hire knows they were mislead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have the owner take a management course. Get rid of upper management that gives lip service
    to his way of treating people.
