Friendly working environment

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at East West Bancorp

ProsMost people who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. Senior Managements are nice and interact directly with lower level employees.

ConsThe resources are very low. A lot of the office essentials such as paper cups & utensils are low or unavailable.

Advice to Senior ManagementI have no advise or feedback to the leadership or management at East West Bank of San Francisco or Pasadena.

It is a waste of time.

In-Store Banker (Current Employee)

I have been working at East West Bancorp

ProsIf you happen to come across good people to work with, it can be fun. Benefits are okay.

ConsOnly looks out for "shareholders value" ie the corporation itself and gives very small percentages for raises (2-6% in December 2011 i think) even though the company is increasing its profits exponentially. There is no opportunity for growth if your manager does not choose to help you. You're at the mercy of your manager which is unfair because sometimes he/she can be a biased prick who really doesn't see enough to know anything and only looks out for him/herself, at the cost of stepping all over everybody else. There is no accountability for the manager's actions. All credit goes to him for anything good that those below him does. And the manager has certain privileges to please clients in ways that we cannot, which only makes everyone else look like worthless liars.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire people with character.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at East West Bancorp

Proscross-cultural experence and the bridge concept of east and west. large community bank yet has personal touch. Advancement oppotunities provided.

Consnot much media attention. the pay can be better, wish have more interaction with senior management. IT infrastructure is not up to date yet.

Advice to Senior Managementwant to try having informal luncheon with the front-line workers? should complete the cross-border branch into full-services asap in order to seize china business oppotunity.

It's a OK place to work but with low pay

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at East West Bancorp

ProsPeople are nice there but some of them don't respond to others' that well.

ConsLower pay compare to other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive higher salary so talented people will want to stay and work for the company. Try to hear what "small potatos" have to say so there will be less complaints.

Good people, well run, long hours and constant layoffs.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at East West Bancorp

ProsGood people, easy to work with and smart, generally supportive of each other. The bank is growing in a very tough market and very well run to survive the downturn.

ConsModerately political, long hours, little recognition so unrewarding, constant layoffs, low morale, little opportunity to make a difference, and not in a very exciting niche in the market.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't think I could run things any better, so don't have much in the way of advice to offer management.

Vice President of Lending (Current Employee)

I have been working at East West Bancorp

ProsSome of the staff have a good background and strong understanding of their respective departments.

ConsManagement was erratic and decision making is limited to a handful of people. Company has chosen to operate with such a limited staff that it is necessary to work on the weekends to simply keep up.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to understand that the size of the bank has doubled and therefore you need to change your management structure.

ProsThe environment seemed very diversified and they encourage diversity in the work place.

ConsIt is hard to move positions if your manager is not willing to part with you.
